Wednesday Night Bible Study is happening tonight. Starts at 7pm with a song or two of praise/worship, time spent together in the OT, Psalm, and NT passage of the day (from the Revised Common Lectionary) with prayer and reverent conversation. All are welcome.

Also, our latest round of missionaries are back from Uganda. Allen, Debbie, and Mary have been on a preaching tour and got back into town late Monday night/early Tuesday AM. Praise God for his grace and traveling mercies!

On this Fifth Sunday of Easter, we read of Stephen doing something remarkable at the moment of his death: he looks up. He sees Jesus — not seated, as everywhere else in the New Testament — but standing. Standing up for him. And what Stephen sees is what enables him to pray: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Lord, do not hold this sin against them.

Jesus says to his frightened disciples in John 14: Do not let your hearts be troubled. Before he asks anything of them, he gives them a home. A prepared place. I am the way — not a map, not a doctrine, not a political position. A person. Follow me.

1 Peter 2 tells us the church is built from rejected stones. The people handed a false, weaponized gospel became, by the grace of God, the people who showed us what the true one looks like. And Psalm 31 gives us words for the moment: Into your hands I commit my spirit. My times are in your hands.

That is where the Church is called to live — people who can tell the truth without picking up stones, because they have seen Jesus standing.

In this Second Sunday of Easter worship service, we sit with Thomas behind locked doors and ask the question Joseph Ratzinger dared to ask: What would it mean if Easter had not taken place?

Through the Gospel of John, we discover that the resurrection is not merely a miracle from long ago — it is the breakthrough that has determined the meaning of all history. God takes initiative. He walks through locked doors. He answers what ails us. Christ has risen indeed!

He has risen indeed! With Easter we move our colors to gold and white, the liturgical colors for this blessed season.

White: Used for the Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday, and throughout the entire Easter Season to celebrate the Resurrection.

Gold: Often used interchangeably with white during Christmas and Easter times to denote festivity and triumph.
