Simon vs the sinful woman.
Two people at the table with Jesus.
Simon Provided no water for Jesus's feet.
Roads were dusty.
Feet were filthy.
Providing water was basic hospitality.
Simon ignored what was customary.
She washed Jesus's feet with her tears.
No servant.
No basin.
No Towel.
Just tears, courage, and worship.
Simon gave no kiss to Jesus.
A Standard greeting.
The equivalent of a handshake.
Simon withheld the ordinary.
She never stopped kissing Jesus's feet.
What Simon refused, she poured out.
Simon did not put oil on Jesus's head.
This honestly makes sense.
Anointing someone with oil was a pretty special honor.
She poured perfume on Jesus's feet.
She took the most costly possession she had, broke it open, and poured it onto His feet.
Simon saw the difference in the sin, but didn't see the same need for forgiveness.
