Yesterday Pastor Ken continued with the Gospel of John. This has been a pivotal gospel as we are learning some hard lessons throughout these sermons as Christians. The sermon focus was on John 11: 1-27 which covers the death of Lazarus and Jesus confronting Lazarus’ sisters.
We tend to want to be the master of our plans instead of letting Jesus take control. In learning about the death of Lazarus- no one truly understood where this was going to lead. Questions were asked out of desperation leading to the point of the sermon which is to trust HIM. There is a plan- whether it goes our way or not but Jesus knows what’s best and what to do in all situations. We are led to align our will with His will in prayer because ultimately He knows the outcome. When any plan fails- there will be pain. Lazarus’ death was a painful moment in which Jesus knew the outcome and that there would be beauty in the outcome. This pain will bring you to lean in and it will be closest you will ever be to Him. Our faith has got us if it is built on a firm foundation. Believe in Him for no plan will actually fail and there will be an outcome planned that will turn into something so much better.

The start of a New Year with a new gospel. We dove into John 8:31-38 this Sunday which is about Truth and Freedom. A refreshing first Sunday sermon that reminds us even in this day of age where knowledge is at our finger tips, the knowledge we need to know is the truth and facts of the gospel. John is posing the question- Is everyone that confesses to know Jesus truly have faith?
Disciples bleed the word of God- if the word convicts you, you are truly grasping the word. The Bible is there to fill our cups and lead us to teach and become disciples. Become a genuine believer that continues to feed your faith- don’t let the pressure of society cause false faith.
Disciples seek truth in the Word- our lives may be in ruins in the moment but the one thing we crave is the truth and the word that brings peace to any situation.
True freedom comes from the word- Let the dead bury the dead stated in John 8:32 as it is not your personal truth but the truth in the word. You are free from the shackles of sin for you are made new.

Do not become like a Pharisee and just check the boxes off in your faith this 2026. This is not a religious exercise. Ask yourself if you have room for Jesus in the New Year? Because I can assure you- He always has room for you.

We are so excited for the start of this year and the best way to start is gathering and worshipping together in the House of the Lord.

We finished the last sermon of 2025 with lighting all the advent candles concluding with The Christ candle which is the center candle symbolizing He has been born. He is the light of our lives and should be placed in the center of all that we do.
Pastor Ken led us into The Sermon on the Mount explaining the significance of the Beatitudes and the special words the blessed ones were able to hear from Jesus. Blessed are those who need Jesus and seek Him in all opprtunities and trust in Him fully. Blessed are those who forgive and choose peace.
If anyone needs a reminder- He is here to fix the broken. He is here to be your constant peace. He is the answer to it ALL. This is the opportunity to choose Him this New Year and let Him bless you abundantly.
