Sunday Lesson Preview:

Preschool kids will learn that Jesus Told about a Kind Man (Luke 10:25-37, The Good Samaritan). We tend to create "silos" for the different areas of life: family, work/school, church, home. Our character should be consistent regardless of where we are and what we do. We should be the same Christ-centered person at all times. Talk about ways your child can show God's love at school, at the store, in your neighborhood, and to their family.

Elementary kids will learn about the Wisdom of God's People (Proverbs). God’s gift of wisdom to King Solomon did not end with Solomon; he shared this wisdom through his proverbs. The proverbs reveal to us that wisdom is not a mere intellectual exercise. Wisdom is a Person, Jesus, and by trusting in Him we find salvation. Reflect on the seasons of your own life that have led you closest to the Lord and in obedience to Him. Talk to your child about the blessings in our lives that come from when we are walking in the wisdom of God.

Sunday Lesson Preview:
Preschool kids will learn that Jesus Taught about a Loving Father (Luke 15:11-32). Jesus told his followers stories to teach them about God. One of our favorite stories about God is the story of the Prodigal Son and Loving Father. Prepare your child by talking about your favorite stories/fables and any lessons they might teach us.

Elementary kids will learn The Queen of Sheba Visited Solomon (1 Kings 10:1-13). There are many things in life that amaze and wonder us. The Queen of Sheba was amazed at Solomon's wisdom from God. It gave her the chance to be blessed and to learn about Solomon's God. Prepare your child by talking to them about some of the things that amazes you/them. How can those things point us to God?

Kids Worship Recap:

The book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon toward the end of his life as he reflected on his legacy and leadership. Though he had all the riches and wisdom life had to offer, he relayed in this writing that nothing matters apart from fearing the Lord and walking in His ways. When we order our lives with Jesus as our main pursuit, we experience the purpose and meaning that Christ died for us to receive; we experience life everlasting here and now. The gospel frees us from chasing after temporary, empty things and transforms our hearts to love and serve God. Christ died so that we may have life and have it in abundance (John 10:10).

Sunday Lesson Preview:

Preschool kids will learn that Jesus Taught that People Should Help One Another. After Jesus ate a special meal with his disciples, he got up and washed their feet. He put others as more important than him. Do you have a neighbor or church member you could serve and put as more important than you? What can you do for them?

Elementary kids will learn that Solomon Thought About Life. He spent time thinking through all that he saw in the world and he had done in his life, and focused on his purpose in life. Talk to your kids this weekend about things they are good at and passionate about. How we can we use our gifts and talents for the purpose of sharing God's greatness?

Kids Worship Recap:

God shows us love in many ways from blessing us with good friends to comforting us when we feel scared. One of the ways that God shows His love for us is by wanting to be close to us. When we trust in Jesus to rescue us from our sin, God gives us the Holy Spirit—God’s very presence living within us. We no longer need a temple to be near God because He can now live in us when we trust in Jesus.

Sunday Lesson Preview:

Preschool kids will learn that Jesus Taught How to Pray. Prepare your kids for Sunday by sitting down and talking with them about how praying is talking to God. What is something you would want to talk to God about?

Elementary kids will learn that Solomon Built the Temple. Prepare your kids by asking them about something they are really proud of that they made. Talk about how God gives us gifts we can use to glorify Him.

CHALLENGE...

This school year we are going to challenge our kids to memorize eight Bible verses that will equip them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. We want to Live "ON MISSION" just as Christ commissioned all of us. These eight verses partnered with 4 images (heart, divide, cross, and question mark) will equip us, EVEN AS KIDS, to be able to tell our friends, classmates, and neighbors about God's plan for us.

Every kid at First Baptist Newnan that is able to quote all eight verses to Pastor Neal will receive an awesome gift at the end of the year. Kids can recite the verses at anytime, but they must be able to do all eight verses at the same time.

Each week in Kids Worship, kids take notes on the lesson and discuss what we've learned. Kids are also challenged with different ways to live out the lesson during the week.

This Sunday (May 18)...

Preschool kids will learn about how A Widow Gave All She Had.
-Prepare your kids for the lesson this weekend by talking about things God has made them good at or that they like to do. Can it be used to worship God? (Hint: An offering is an act of worship and dependence on God.)

Older Kids will learn about how The Ark Was Captured.
-Prepare them for the lesson this weekend by asking them what is the Ark of the Covenant and why was it important to God's people. (Hint: It was a symbol God's physical presence with His people. Why don't we have that symbol after Jesus' death and resurrection?)

Preschool kids will learn about The Building of the Tabernacle.
-Prepare your kids for the lesson this weekend by building something with blocks and asking them what they like about church.

Older Kids will learn about how Samuel Was Born and Called.
-Prepare them for the lesson this weekend by asking them to tell you what they know about Samuel (hint: read 1 Samuel 1-3)
