Shame doesn’t just tell you how to feel about yourself.
It can start telling you how to live.

Who to avoid.
Where not to go.
What parts of yourself to hide.
How much of the truth you’re willing to let people see.

Eventually, you can become very good at looking okay while quietly arranging your entire life around what you don’t want anyone else to know.

That’s what makes this moment with the woman at the well so powerful.

She went to a place where she expected to be alone.

Jesus met her there.

The place she chose to hide became the place where grace found her.

You may be able to hide your pain from other people. You may even learn how to manage the image everyone else sees.

But you cannot hide from the grace of God.

Jesus does not avoid the places of your shame.

He meets you in them.

There’s something special about gathering together as a church family.

This Friday, August 21, we’re taking worship outside for our Family Night of Worship.

Come early at 5 PM for food, family activities, inflatables, and time together. Then at 7 PM, we’ll gather as one church family for worship, prayer, and God’s Word.

Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring a chair. Come for dinner, stay for worship, and spend the evening with us.
