One year ago, we were rejoicing over what God had done in us during our 2023 Women in Ministry Soul Care Weekend. You have all been on my heart this weekend. Honestly, I just miss you all so much! This was supposed to have been our weekend together. BUT God had other plans. Due to schedules and health issues in our family and among our leadership team, it seemed the Lord was saying "Wait! Not now."
So, we put our planning on pause, and God opened another door as we were part of a missions team to the the White Mountain Apaches in Cibecue, AZ, earlier this month. A few weeks before the trip, the ladies on the team decided to do a women's ministry event which turned into 2 days. One of those days, we had the privilege of spending one full day serving and ministering to the Ladies in Leadership from several churches in Cibecue.
What a sweet time as the day began with worship on a warm, sunny day under the cottonwood trees. The men were doing a construction project in the church auditorium, so we moved our event outside. It was a beautiful thing to see these ladies who are leaders in the churches and in the community enjoy this day together. They carry heavy burdens which few of us can fathom, every single one of them dealing with death of a child or grandchild, sibling, parent, or relative due to addiction. Poverty, addiction, and depression are overwhelming in this culture. As the ladies worked through the "What's in Your Heart" activity, led by Melody D (who you may remember from our WIMN Weekend in 2023. The ladies began sharing their stories with each other, reminiscing about times they had shared in the past. As they talked, joyous, unbridled laughter erupted. (I do believe that was one of my favorite moments of the day!)
*Hope you read on...and take a minute to read the captions on the pictures.
I was blessed to be able to share a message of hope with them, as we condensed last year's WIMN Weekend topic into one session building on the "What's in Your Heart" activity to talking about their identity and vision, setting boundaries, and abiding in Jesus. Following the message, Beatriz M, one of our missions team members, led in a time of prayer. (We had alloted 40 minutes for this - but these ladies know how to pray! What a challenge to all of us as they poured out their hearts before the Lord for a full 80 minutes! We closed our time with The Korean Blessing Song that we learned through the ministry of Dr. Jim and Sterling Moseley O'Neill and The Blessing Song by Cody Carnes/recorded by Kari Jobe. All I can say is WOW!!!
Tuesday evening we hosted a Ladies Night Out for all the ladies in the churches and community. They LOVED the broken china necklaces and powerful teaching by Melody Davenport.
For those who prayed for us, thank you! My prayer is that we can be together again in 2025 for another Women in Ministry Soul Care Weekend AND that we can host another WIMN Day for our Apache sisters in Arizona! Will you pray for these two possibilities, that God will lead and open doors for continued ministry?
