It’s simple, but not always easy.

Love isn’t just something we say — it’s something we practice. In how we show up. In how we listen. In how we care for our neighbors, especially when it's hard.

At Rose Run, we believe faith is meant to be visible in the way we love — not perfectly, but genuinely. A love that makes room. A love that serves. A love that keeps showing up.

If you spend time around Rose Run, chances are you’ve seen Val Robinson in action.

She’s been part of this church since the very beginning — one of the original “Rose Runners” who helped start the congregation and build the kind of community they hoped to find: welcoming, caring and rooted in service.

These days, a lot of that care shows up through the Weekend Food Program, which Val has helped organize for the past four years. Every week during the school year, volunteers shop for, pack and deliver food for local students experiencing food insecurity.

What keeps her coming back to Rose Run after all these years?

“Rose Run Church is our home. We like the message. We like our mission. I love the people there.”

We’re grateful for Val’s big heart, steady leadership and the way she reminds us what community looks like.

June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate the dignity, courage, and belovedness of LGBTQIA+ people.

At Rose Run, we believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of love, affirmation, and full participation in the life of the church.

We are grateful for our LGBTQIA+ members and the ways they help us better understand the breadth of God’s love.

We’re still learning, still growing, and still committed to being a community where all people can show up fully as themselves.

“I enjoy working for an organization that gives back to the community, particularly in this current climate where food insecurity in our community is rising every year”

For the past six years, our May Impact Volunteer of the Month, Val Robinson, has dedicated her time to supporting the Food Pantry and helping ensure that neighbors in our community have access to nutritious food and support.

Volunteering in the pantry has also given Val “a sense of need and purpose,” along with meaningful connections. “The volunteers are all lovely to work with, and we make it a fun experience with a great atmosphere. Shout out to Sarah Kate and Linda, who are fantastic leaders to work alongside!”

In addition to her work at the pantry, Val is also a member of Rose Run Presbyterian Church, which partners with the pantry throughout the year to support local families. The church grounds are also the future permanent home of the Healthy New Albany Food Pantry.

Thank you, Val, for the compassion, positivity, and endless dedication you bring to helping neighbors in need.
