A note from Pastor Greg:

This Sunday will be a mix of joy and sadness. We will joyfully gather for another One Church worship service at 10am and celebrate communion as one body. Following the service we will have a brief, called congregational meeting to affirm the dissolution of Pastor Mike's call as pastor at Sierra Pres. Following that there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall where we can share our appreciation for Pastor Mike's ministry at Sierra Pres.

Whatever you're feeling this Sunday, you are not alone in it. I want to invite us all to recognize and joyfully celebrate the great things God has done through Pastor Michael Griffin. Along with that we will grieve this transition like we would any other transition in our life. I would encourage us to let this be a season of drawing closer to God, Scripture, and our Sierra Pres family for support. As we grieve, we are not without an anchor. Remember Paul's words to the Thessalonian church that we do not grieve, "like the rest of mankind, who have no hope," (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Through our faith in God, encouragement in Scripture and support of the church family we can move from sadness and grief into joy and hope. As with any grief process, it will not be a straight line from grief to hope and some may take longer in that journey than others. But, it is my hope and prayer that God will use this moment to deepen our relationship with Him and each other as we walk (and probably stumble) through this together.

With You on the Journey,
Pastor Greg Flagg

What if the real battle isn't out there — it's in here?

This Sunday, we opened James 4 and sat with one of the most honest passages in the Bible. James doesn't soften it: our fights, our conflicts, our restlessness — so much of it traces back to desires warring within us. We want our own way. And instead of submitting to God, we subtly resist Him.

But James also offers a way forward. Three simple, countercultural moves:
Submit to God. Resist the devil. Cleanse your Heart.

Swipe through the slides above for key takeaways, scripture, and a reflection question to carry with you this week.

If you weren't able to join us Sunday, we'd love for you to listen online. The full message is available at sierrapres.com. And if you've been looking for a community to grow in faith with — come find us. We meet Sundays at 9am or 10:30am in Nevada City, and we will save a seat for you.

Imagine knowing your last day is today. How would it reshape your focus? As we continued to look at the book of James, Pastor Michael Griffin called us to spend our time mending broken relationships, sharing our faith with loved ones, and building a spiritual legacy.

Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost — the day God poured out His Holy Spirit on all who believe.

The promise Peter declared in Acts 2 wasn't just for those first disciples. It's for you. For your children. For all who are far off. Everyone the Lord calls to Himself.

We asked a simple question: Do you want more of the Spirit?

If you missed Sunday or want to revisit the message, you can listen at sierrapres.com

We'd love to have you join us. You belong here.

From the Old to the New Testament, God's plan was always advancing, awaiting its moment. On Pentecost, our missionary partner Luke Herrin reminded us that it wasn't just a spark, but a divine firestorm unleashed, set to ignite faith across all people and nations. Have you felt the power of that calling?
