Holy God, be with the exhausted, the frazzled, the ones who wear multiple hats. Quiet the Type A's who can't stop themselves from chasing down the elusive "perfect". Help us make room within ourselves for satisfaction in what we accomplish. Breathe peace in our racing hearts as we discern their own limits. Create in us joy in sharing tasks with others and peace with the outcome of delegation. Help us make room in our hearts and minds for contentment with who we are, beloved children in your family. Amen

Jesus, it is a misty, moisty morning, a sure harbinger of autumn's approach. As dread of deep snow and pipe freezing cold rises like bile, you say, "Why fear what might be? Aren't today's challenges enough for today? Aren't today's joys and beauty enough to feed you?" Thank you Lord, for a more manageable perspective. Help us find the balance of planning for tomorrows, learning from yesterdays, while keeping ourselves present to live what is real right now. Amen

God of justice and equity, as I eat today, may I be mindful of those who don't. As I work today, may I remember those unemployed. As I drive and ride today, may I think of those whose only transportation is their feet. As I enter my home, make me aware of those in my community without homes. Holy Spirit, do not let me convince myself that everyone has what I have. Do not allow me, in my comfort, to ignore the needs of my human family. I am but one, but there is a lot one person can do. Amen

Thank you, Gracious God, for those whose labor makes this life possible. Thank you for those who build, innovate, tend and nurture, teach, preach, serve and protect, heal, bind and loose, plant and harvest, create, write, produce and develop. Thank you for creating us with minds and bodies that can imagine and innovate. Please Lord, guide us to labor not only for ourselves, but for the good of all. Amen

Holy God, while we cannot see you, we can know you through your handiwork. You make good your promise of renewal with every opening bud spring and of resurrection in every seed that dies to itself but rises as a whole new plant. While we cannot feel your embrace, you tussle our hair with the wind and you caress our cheeks with your breeze. While we cannot hug you back, we can tend this earth and all her creatures, most especially each other. Help us love you by loving what you have made. Amen

"Bless, Lord, the labor we bring to serve you, that with our neighbor we may be fed.Sowing or tilling, we would work with you, harvesting, milling for daily bread."

Holy God, grant us purpose and usefulness in every stage of life. May we give to the world the gifts you have built into us, that neighbors may benefit from each of our contributions. Give direction to the elderly wondering, "Why am I still here?" May every person earn fair wages and benefits for their labor, that there be no more "working poor."

"Father, providing food for your children, by your wise guiding, teach us to shareone with another, so that rejoicing with us, all others may know your care."

God of life, sometimes we don't see the sunshine. Sometimes we don't feel love. Our minds whisper falsehoods we believe, and joy evaporates. They say su***de is the unforgiveable sin, but your truth brooks no lies. Every single being is your beloved, cherished despite our egos and ugliness. Nothing we can conjure is beyond your merciful grace. Please part the curtains of depression, that the warm glow of your love would heal every mind. Amen

God of creation, as summer wanes, it is so easy to lament what is past and dread the bitter cold that is to come. Guide us to wash away lament with gratitude. Thank you for the skin warming, tomato growing days of summer. Thank you for the days to come in all their splendor. Today we live. Today we love. Today we breathe. Thank you for today, glorious in its freshness, tinged with gold and crimson, filled with your gift of life. Amen
