The TSU Wesley Foundation ⛪️ joins the city in a weekend of remembrance. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is amongst the many pioneers and martyrs who believed that to honor 🎖️ another human was to honor 🎖️ the image of God in that human. He chose to follow Jesus down a path with clear sign posts 🪧 to love God 💚 and love neighbor 💚as we love ourselves 💚. Refusing to shed the blood of another, he practiced nonviolence as a methodology for social change.

We’re calling TSU campus orgs to commemorate MLK’s life with us on Sunday evening . Space is limited! Join us for an hour of song, reflections, and prayer as we honor his dream and answer the call to keep it alive.

”Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.“

About The TSU Wesley Foundation

We are located on the campus of Tennessee State University across from the TSU Hale Football Stadium and we are sponsored by the United Methodist Church. At the Wesley Center, we hold weekly worship services, bibles studies, leadership programs, forums, and community service opportunities. The Wesley Center offers a quiet spot to study and a comfortable space to make friends and have fun. The Wesley Foundation campus ministry of Tennessee State University had its earliest beginnings with a student fellowship convened by a faculty member, Ms. Ruth McDowell, a devoted United Methodist. She saw the need for such a ministry with students at Tennessee State University and gathered with students providing them with spiritual and moral support during their college/university years. Today we are known as the TSU Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry. Leadership development is both an intentional and essential component to the Wesley Foundation at TSU. Every encounter provides an opportunity to cultivate young adults leadership skills: dependable work ethic, social responsibility, good stewardship, tolerance, respect, inclusivity, and a vision of how the world can become a better place for all people. We use social networking and teamwork to create innovative spaces for worship experiences through music, drama, art, spoken word, and dance. On campus, we are considered the “broker “of meaningful community service opportunities for most of the major student organizations. We partner with local churches to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, build playgrounds in poor neighborhoods, mentor young people, lead in freedom schools, and participate in building houses for habitat as ways of learning how to serve.
