Dirty Dozen Men's Organization The Dirty Dozen is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the community through their motto “Real Men Doing Positive Things.

The Dirty Dozen was founded on August 7, 1996 under the vision of founder Avery Patton, and founding members Calvin Peters and Doris Patton. The organization started as a social group that hosted annual events. Because of the overwhelming response to the event, some of the original members decided to create an organization with the name “The Dirty Dozen” and make the social event an annual occurre

nce. The eight originators added four more members and the organization of men has grown to over fifty. The name originates from a western movie titled, “The Dirty Dozen” whose mission was to save those in need. Since its transition from social to community based organization, the Dirty Dozen focuses on doing the same by mentoring and empowering today’s youth. During the school year members visit different schools weekly, mentoring students and assisting administration any way they can. Each year the Dirty Dozen helps those in the community by providing school uniforms and school supplies for youth, Turkey give away, and providing Christmas gifts for families in need. Other community involvement includes speaking engagements at churches, schools, rallies and teen summits. The organization has been recognized for their community involvement by the State of Tennessee House of Representatives (2011), Metro Davidson County Council (2010) and Ambassador Bobby Jones and the Nashville Gospel Consortium (2013), to name a few. The Dirty Dozen strives to continuously empower its community by supporting those in need and creating a sense of pride through their efforts in the community.
