• Raphael Warnock is a Democratic senator from Georgia and a pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a predecessor.

“For me, the acid test of one's faith is the depth of your commitment to the people who are on the margins,” Warnock told David Marchese on “The Interview.”

“Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘You who are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels, for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment but the righteous into eternal life.” Mt 25:41-46

Let us acknowledge with solemn joy
God’s gift of this place,
remembering with gratitude
all who have worshiped here,
the faith professed at this font,
the gospel proclaimed from this pulpit,
the assurance received at this table.

As we leave this sanctuary for the last time, we do not walk out empty-handed. We carry with us the signs of God’s faithfulness. The chalice that has held grace, the cross that has anchored our hope, and the Bible that has spoken life into this community for generations.

These are not just objects. They are reminders that God has met us here, shaped us here, and sent us out from here time and time again. And now, as we fold our life together into a new congregation, we carry these symbols forward.

Today closes its doors.
It is the most beautiful building in Nashville with the most beautiful pipe organ and piano.
It’s super sad and I hope someone with billions of dollars & good intentions buys/restores it.

I’d like to thank the Woodland community & Presbytery for my work as music director here for the past 6+ years.

Thank you for being ok with all my creative ideas and endeavors. Thank you for letting me bring in some of my favorite musicians to play here too. Thank you for the endless hours of yoga, childcare, piano practice, recording, contemplation & meditation the space has offered throughout my time in Nashville.

I’ve loved every moment of my work here, and the music, people, relationships & community Woodland has fostered.

Thank you thank you thank you.

Palm Sunday Witness in Solidarity with Our Neighbors - March 29 at 2 PM

On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus’ public procession into Jerusalem—a march of courage, humility, and holy disruption in the face of an oppressive empire. This year, Christians from many denominations will embody that story in Nashville by lifting up Jesus' call to love our neighbors and to treat all people with dignity and respect. The witness will call on the Tennessee and federal governments to enact policies that reflect those fundamental values. Join this ecumenical group on Sunday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m., as we gather at First Lutheran Church and process together to the State Capitol complex. With palms in hand, clergy in purple stoles, banners raised, and songs and prayers on our lips, we will offer a serious, prayerful, and determined witness.
