Mayflower Congregational UCC

Mayflower Congregational UCC We are people just like you searching for meaning in life, finding our purpose in life and we look to the Bible, prayer, conversation and study to help us Rev.

Mayflower held its first worship service in January of 1990 under the leadership of Rev. Mark Burns. The service was held in a meeting room at what is now Lely Manor Care. In the fall of 1990 worship moved to the new Lely Elementary School. Pastor Mark left to take a church in Virginia in 1993. Under the leadership of interim pastor Gordon Svoboda the church began to grow and in 1995 Rev. Robert E

. Townsend was called. In 1996 Mayflower purchased almost 10 acres for what is now our campus. The congregation continued to grow, and in 1999 the Family Life Center was opened. In 2004 the present sanctuary was dedicated. Townsend left in 2011. In 2012 Mayflower was excited to call Rev. Alan Coe as our new spiritual leader! In 2020 Mayflower celebrated their 30th anniversary of ministering to the Naples community. After 11 years at Mayflower, Pastor Alan has retired and we are now searching for a new shepherd.

Sharing burdens…

Some of what you are carrying right now may not be yours to carry by yourself. Some of what feels heavy may be a sign thatyou need to find someone you can entrust to share the load.

Be bold! Be confident! God has already gone before you. Save this post and rest in this truth throughout the entire month. 💛

It is easy to get discouraged when life feels heavy or progress feels small. But 2 Corinthians 15:7 reminds me that God honors perseverance. Keep praying, keep loving, keep trusting. The work He’s doing in your heart and through your life is never unnoticed. 🌸

Groping for God

We are too often like fish, swimming in an ocean of God’s love and not even realizing it. Perhaps we could stop our anxious paddling and roll over and just float for a while, enjoying the view.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

One of the most beautiful things about God's creation is that it was never designed to be monochrome.

Take a look outside: oceans, sunsets, wildflowers, birds, and even Florida's famous evening skies. Creation is full of color, diversity, and wonder. Why would humanity be any different?

This Pride Month, the Florida Conference of the United Church of Christ celebrates our LGBTQ+ siblings and gives thanks for the gifts, leadership, faith, and love they bring to our churches and communities.

We know that for many people, finding a church where they are fully welcomed has not always been easy. That's why we continue to proclaim a simple but powerful message: there is room for you here.

Not because we all look alike.
Not because we all think alike.
But because God's love is bigger than our differences and stronger than our fears.

So this June, may we celebrate the diversity of God's people, continue the work of justice and inclusion, and remember that every person is created in the image of God.

Happy Pride Month from the Florida Conference of the United Church of Christ. 🌈

☕️ June Reminder: Before the noise of the day begins... Before the notifications, responsibilities, and expectations... Sit with God. Not because you have all the answers. Not because you've done everything right. But because His presence is enough. "Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10 🙏

The world teaches us to rush. Jesus invites us to rest. This month, may your heart whisper: Less of me, Lord. More of You. May you discover the freedom that comes from releasing control and trusting the One who holds tomorrow. Looking for a deeper daily walk with God? Our Be Still and Follow devotional is designed to help you slow down, quiet your soul, and follow Jesus one day at a time. You can also join our FREE Weekly Devotional for scripture, encouragement, and mindful Christian reflections delivered each week. Everything is linked in our bio. 💜
