Evening Reflection 10/31/26

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” — James 1:5

James 1:5 reminds us that we do not have to face difficult decisions relying only on our own understanding. When we lack wisdom, God invites us to ask Him for help. That invitation is especially comforting because He gives generously and does not shame us for needing guidance. Wisdom is more than knowing facts; it is understanding how to apply truth in the right way at the right time. Before making an important decision, reacting to a problem, or giving advice, this verse encourages us to pray first. God may not reveal every detail, but He can give us the wisdom needed for the next step.

Evening Reflection 10/30/26

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9

Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that planning is wise, but our plans should never become more important than God’s direction. We naturally think ahead, set goals, and imagine how life should unfold. Yet circumstances can change in ways we never expected. This verse teaches us to hold our plans with humility. God may open a door we never considered, close one we expected to enter, or redirect us toward something better. Faith means planning responsibly while remaining willing to follow His leading. We do not have to know every step in advance. We simply need enough trust to let God redirect the path when necessary.

Evening Reflection 10/29/26

“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” — Psalm 55:22

Psalm 55:22 reminds us that God never intended for us to carry every burden alone. Some responsibilities are ours to face, but the weight of fear, uncertainty, and worry can be placed in His hands. Casting our burden on the Lord is an act of trust. It means admitting that our strength has limits while His does not. God may not immediately remove the difficulty, but He promises to sustain us through it. Sometimes His help comes by changing the situation; other times He strengthens us to endure it. Either way, we can move forward knowing that the burden does not rest on our shoulders alone.

Evening Reflection 10/28/26

The strength displayed in the example of a righteous woman can never be overstated. In the past couple weeks we have lost two wonderfully, faithful and righteous woman in Barbara Boyd and Ruthie Shelley who are very special to the members at Kendall Springs Church of Christ and Main Street Church of Christ. They both are an example to us all of how to live a full life in Christ and display so much love for their church family. May we all follow their examples.

Psalm 90:12 - “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Psalm 90:12 reminds us that life is limited, and that truth should shape how we live. Numbering our days does not mean living in fear of death; it means recognizing the value of the time God has given us. When we understand that our days are precious, priorities become clearer. We become less willing to waste time on bitterness, trivial arguments, or empty pursuits. Wisdom asks us to invest our lives in what has lasting value—faith, relationships, service, and obedience to God. Each day is an opportunity that cannot be recovered. This verse challenges us to live intentionally, gratefully, and wisely.

Galatians 6:9 - "“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9 reminds us that faithfulness often requires endurance. Doing what is right can become tiring when results are slow, appreciation is absent, or difficulties continue. This verse encourages us not to judge the value of our efforts only by what we can see today. God sees consistent obedience, even when others do not. The promise of a future harvest gives us reason to continue serving, helping, teaching, encouraging, and doing good. We may not know when the results will appear, but perseverance matters. Faithfulness means continuing to do what is right because we trust God with both the timing and the outcome.

Isaiah 40:31 - "But those who wait on the Lord

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that waiting on God is not wasted time. Waiting can feel frustrating because we often want immediate answers, quick relief, and clear direction. Yet Scripture teaches that trust during the waiting season can renew our strength. God may not always change the situation as quickly as we hope, but He can strengthen us to endure it faithfully. The image of rising on wings like eagles reminds us that God can lift us above circumstances that once seemed overwhelming. Waiting on the Lord means trusting His timing, relying on His strength, and believing that He is still working even when progress is difficult to see.

Evening Reflection 10/24/26

Philippians 4:5 - "Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand."

Philippians 4:5 calls Christians to be known for gentleness, restraint, and a steady spirit. The way we respond under pressure often reveals more about our faith than the way we act when life is easy. Gentleness (moderation in the KJV) does not mean weakness or indecision. It means having enough self-control to remain gracious without becoming harsh or reactive. Paul connects this attitude to the nearness of the Lord, reminding us that we live and speak in His presence. When we remember that God is near, we have less reason to prove ourselves or win every argument. A calm, considerate spirit can become a powerful testimony to others.

1 Timothy 6:6 reminds us that real wealth is not measured by possessions, status, or constant achievement. Contentment grows when we learn to value what God has already provided and trust Him with what we still lack. Without contentment, even abundance can feel insufficient. With it, simple blessings become meaningful. Paul connects contentment with godliness because both require the heart to be centered on God rather than on comparison or desire. This verse challenges us to ask whether we are always reaching for more or learning to be grateful. A life rooted in faith and contentment possesses a kind of riches the world cannot provide.

Proverbs 15:1 - "A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that the tone of our response can change the direction of a conflict. Harsh words often invite more harshness, while a calm and gentle answer can lower tension and create space for understanding. This does not mean avoiding truth or refusing to address wrongdoing. It means choosing to speak with self-control rather than allowing anger to decide our words. A soft answer requires strength because it asks us to master our emotions in difficult moments. When we respond with patience and wisdom, we may not control the other person’s reaction, but we can keep anger from controlling ours.
