🍂 Messy Church is back September 20! ❤️

Join us for an evening of creativity, worship, dinner, and fun for all ages as Messy Church returns for the fall!

Our September theme is “For Everything There Is a Season,” inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1–8. As school begins, routines change, and summer starts turning toward fall, we'll explore the reminder that life has many different seasons—and God is with us through every one.

Messy Church is free, intergenerational, and open to everyone. You don't need to be a member of Spruce Street—or any church—to come. Just come as you are!

Families are busy. Schedules are packed. Kids have good days and hard days. Plans change. Dinner gets rushed. Sometimes we're doing well just to get everyone out the door with their shoes on. 😄

Messy Church is built around the idea that church can meet families right in the middle of real life.

You don't need a perfectly behaved family.
You don't need all the answers.
You don't need to have faith figured out.
And you certainly don't need to have everything together.

Messy Church creates a welcoming place for children and their grown-ups to slow down, spend time together, explore faith, ask questions, create, play, eat, and connect with others.

Because our lives may be messy—but God meets us there. ❤️

This is a tough one. There's certainly no shortage of interesting characters in the Bible!

Maybe it’s Ruth’s loyalty, Peter’s very relatable tendency to act first and think later, Esther’s courage, David’s complicated story, Mary’s faith, Moses’ reluctance... or someone completely unexpected?

Dreamers and doubters. Shepherds and kings. Prophets and troublemakers. People who were courageous, stubborn, faithful, impulsive, wise, messy—and sometimes all of those things at once.

That’s one of the things we love about Scripture: God’s story is filled with wonderfully human people. They made mistakes. They asked questions. They struggled. They grew. And God worked through them anyway. ❤️

So now we want to hear from you:

Who is your favorite Bible character—and why?

Children are always becoming. ❤️

Sometimes the changes happen so gradually that we hardly notice them. Sometimes it feels like they grow overnight.

Every season of childhood brings something new to discover, celebrate, and sometimes learn to let go.

As our children grow through their own changing seasons, we can remind them that change is part of life, and that God walks beside them through every one. 🍃🍂

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

We'll be exploring change, patience, growing, and God's presence through every season at our next Messy Church.

If you could keep ONE season all year long, which would you choose? 🌷☀️🍂❄️

Are you counting down the days until the first cool fall morning? Would you happily live in summer forever? Maybe you're waiting for that first snowfall—or you can't resist everything blooming in spring.

Tell us your favorite season in the comments! 👇

We're thinking a lot about seasons right now as we get ready for September's Messy Church, where we'll explore the words of Ecclesiastes:

What makes Messy Church different? ❤️

At Messy Church, families learn through creating, building, experimenting, playing, wondering, and sometimes getting a little messy along the way. 🎨🔎🌱

Because faith isn't just something you can listen to. It's something to experience, explore, and grow into.

Some of the sweetest memories begin with flour on the counter and laughter all around.

Messy moments are often the ones children remember most.

At Messy Church, we celebrate learning by doing. Through crafts, science experiments, decorating cookies, playing games, and listening to Bible stories, families discover that faith can be joyful, creative, and wonderfully hands-on.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good." — Psalm 34:8

❤️ Come make a little mess with us.
