United Methodists offered prayers for a safe deployment for Chaplain Christopher W. “Chip” Bennett in a ceremony earlier this month at United Methodist Temple Beckley WV . On this Memorial Day, we give thanks for those who gave their lives in service to others. As people of faith, we remember the words of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

May we honor their sacrifice not only with remembrance, but by living as peacemakers, pursuing justice, loving our neighbors, and working for the healing of the world God so loves.
