Pentecost Sunday was quite impactful this past weekend. The Holy Spirit
instructed us that we have been empowered to use Divine Discernment when
interacting with people. However, before we can exercise divine
discernment, we must FIRST come from a place of forgiveness. Since we’ve
all been forgiven, and are new creations, because of God’s forgiveness,
we must see people in that way.
The Holy Spirit encourages us to engage in discernment by examining
people’s FRUIT. There are two perspectives by which we discern: Narrow
and Broad. The narrow perspective relates to the FRUIT related to false
prophets and what people say are words from God. The broad perspective
relates to the FRUIT related to the words people speak on their own.
Both perspectives are important and should be part of our daily walk
with the Lord.
Lastly, FAITH in Jesus’ FRUIT is the final focus of our discernment.
When we think about ourselves, let us never tell God about what we’ve
done but rather tell the world what He’s done!

Looking ahead to this Sunday’s Service, we will address the proper balance between our success and God's Savior in a sermon titled:

When God Alone is Good Enough.

Every morning people wake up with big thoughts and big dreams. They
chase possessions, fame and fortune. Saint Paul describes this as
putting confidence in the flesh. But this Sunday, we will see how Paul
addresses the Philippian Church when he learned that some of them were
putting confidence in the flesh. We encourage you to JOIN US this

This past Sunday the Holy Spirt made sure we knew that we serve a God who specializes in Second Chances! In message titled The Complete 180, we learned, through the life of the Apostle Peter, that when we have a true encounter with CHRIST, we can do a complete 180 from Denying Jesus with our life, to Declaring that He is the Risen Lord and Messiah! Also, when we believe wholeheartedly in Jesus, we move from the “needing forgiveness” side of the CROSS, to the “filled with faith” side of the CROSS. Once we believe, we are baptized with fire and receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit then transforms us in a complete 180 from being cowardly to being courageous. Just like Peter shifted from being afraid of the pain of the cross to accepting his own crucifixion on a cross, and that cross was upside down! Lastly, when our 180 is complete, we can help the CROWD do their own! Peter, by the power of the Holy Spirit, preached Jesus to the very crowd that killed Jesus by crying out “Crucify”! But by the end of Peter’s message, they were Confessing Jesus as lord, being baptized, and getting saved. The crowd can do a 180 too!

Looking ahead to this Sunday’s Service, we will focus our attention on how to wisely interact with people, in a sermon titled:

Divine Discernment

One of the greatest challenges for anyone is dealing with people. Jesus addressed this challenge directly with His disciples. He taught them how to tell what kind of person they encountered. After two great messages by our beloved Pastor Al, the Holy Spirit chose
Sis. Karen McDonald-McClendon as the vessel through whom to speak! In a
message titled Wonderfully Made, The Designer’s Original, we learned
that God made us purposely, specifically, and fearfully to do the great
works that serve Him and bring Him glory.
Like a tree planted by a stream of water, we have all that we need
because God is our supply and our strength! We must certainly let go of
our dead leaves, and survive each season that comes, but God is always
right there with us! What a mighty God we serve!

Looking ahead to this Sunday’s Service, we will learn about God’s
requirement of us, in a sermon titled:
The Complete 180.
We don’t have to be experts in Geometry to know that a full circle is
360 degrees. A 360-degree turn gets you right back where you started.
But if you do a half circle, or 180-degree turn, you will be facing the
opposite direction. Take one step forward from there, and you have begun
to move away from the location / situation you were in. This Sunday,
through a careful examination of the Apostle Peter’s last moments with
Christ, and his first moments with the Holy Spirit, we will understand
the Complete 180 experience. And prayerfully, the better we understand
“the Complete 180”, the better we can not only do it ourselves, but show
others how Let’s get together this Sunday to share that Complete 180
experience! We encourage you to JOIN US; and bring a few friends too!
