Welcome to Monticello Baptist Church online! We’re grateful you’re worshiping with us today as we continue our series, TRUTH: Living with a Biblical Worldview.
Over the last five weeks, we have been laying a foundation for a biblical worldview. We have explored the lens through which we see life, the trustworthiness of Scripture, God's design in creation, the fall of humanity into sin, and the condition of the human heart.
This Sunday, our series takes an important turn as we begin focusing on the gospel center of Scripture.
Josh McMillian will be preaching a message from Colossians 1 titled “Redemption: What God Has Done.” After spending several weeks understanding the problem of sin and brokenness, we now turn our attention to God's answer. Through Jesus Christ, God has acted to rescue us from sin, restore what has been broken, and reconcile us to Himself. The gospel is not merely good advice for better living—it is the good news of what God has accomplished for us through His Son.
As we worship together through song, prayer, and the preaching of God's Word, our prayer is that you will be encouraged by the hope of redemption and reminded of the life-changing power of the gospel.

Welcome to Monticello Baptist Church online! We’re grateful you’re worshiping with us today as we continue our series, TRUTH: Living with a Biblical Worldview.
This Sunday, Pastor David Artessa will bring a message titled “The Heart: What’s Wrong With Us?” from Jeremiah 17:5–10. Over the past several weeks, we’ve examined truth, God’s Word, creation, and the entrance of sin into the world. But this week, the focus becomes much more personal. Instead of simply asking what is wrong with the world, Scripture asks: What is wrong with us?
Jeremiah reminds us that the human heart is deeply deceptive and cannot ultimately be trusted apart from God. In a culture that constantly tells us to “follow your heart,” God’s Word points us to a different foundation—trusting the Lord and rooting our lives in His truth.
But this message is not merely about exposing our brokenness. It points us to the grace of Jesus Christ, the Savior who sees the heart fully and still offers mercy, forgiveness, and transformation. And as we gather around the Lord’s Table together, we are reminded that our greatest need was never self-improvement—it was redemption.
As part of our service, we will also take time for a special Memorial Day Reflection, giving thanks for those who courageously gave their lives in service to our country and remembering the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.
As we worship through song, prayer, Scripture, and Communion, our prayer is that God will search our hearts, deepen our trust in Him, and draw us closer to Christ.

🇺🇸 National Day of Prayer 🇺🇸
Today, we join with believers across our nation in prayer—seeking the Lord on behalf of our families, churches, communities, leaders, and nation.

As followers of Christ, prayer is not our last resort; it is our greatest privilege and greatest need. May we be a people who continually seek the Lord and declare His greatness to the next generation. 🙏

“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!”
– 1 Chronicles 16:24 (ESV)

📸 Graduate Sunday at MBC 📸

This past Sunday was a special day in the life of our church as we celebrated our graduates and reflected on this important milestone.

During our 11:00 AM service, Josh encouraged our graduates from James 4 to step forward in faith, trusting God with what lies ahead.

Later that afternoon at the Jasper County High School Baccalaureate Service, we heard several meaningful reminders for this next chapter of life. Principal Belle encouraged students that they are “Hurricane Strong” and prepared for what’s ahead. Pastor David reminded them that they are building something with their lives, and challenged them to build a life centered on God. Pastor Horton closed by pointing them to the true source of strength—that the power for their lives comes through a life of prayer.

It was a full day of encouragement, celebration, and truth. We are grateful to be a church family that gets to walk alongside these students in moments like these.

Take a look at a few highlights from Sunday!
