As we go through this Holy Week, we must remain focused on the ULTIMATE VICTORY OF THE WEEK.
Sitting here watching the artistic expression of heaven; as the lightening flashes and the rumbling boom of thunder causes my attention to focus on the heavens, my mind ponders the thoughts and feelings of the Israelite people on THAT PASSOVER NIGHT. After the previous plagues; seeing the devastation of fields, water, and flesh, I can only imagine the personal battles of "fear and faith" going on in the minds and hearts the people.
Can you see them huddled in the main room with all their belongings at their feet. Sitting there, standing there, maybe holding on to each other mumbling words of encouragement. Let your mind hear their emotionally drenched voices singing our "God IS GOD" or maybe squeaking out "Go down Moses, tell Pharaoh let my people go".
Can you feel the darkness trying to envelop them: the natural darkness, the darkness of death and the darkness of fear; all trying to leave their mark on GOD'S PEOPLE. If the weight of the darkness was not enough they fought the urge to run and hide as the deafening cries of agony and heartache echoed throughout the land. As they probably recognized some of the voices, they may have struggled with mixed feelings. A night of UNKNOWN AND DARKNESS yet they were given ONE COMMAND TO... "SHELTER IN PLACE.... DON'T LEAVE THE HOUSE".
As we approach GOOD FRIDAY and RESURRECTION SUNDAY, we too are experiencing a "type of Egypt PASSOVER. A different plague called
CORONAVIRUSES. This plague is going throughout the land without respect to: age, race, gender, sexual preference or socioeconomic status.
CORONAVIRUSES" got their NAME BECAUSE they HAVE a "CROWN" that reminded scientists of the corona of the sun, Two of the MOST WIDELY FELT SYMPTOMS of the coronavirus are UNCERTAINTY and CONFUSION. During the "reign" of this plague it's goal is to: kill, steal, and destroy. People are and will die. Joy, peace, and comfort has been stolen and "life as we once knew it" was destroyed. EVERYBODY and everything will exit THIS VISITATION a DIFFERENT PERSON.
There's a WEIGHT trying to ride the people of God. A weight of fear due to uncertainty. "Am I ok, will I get sick, will we have enough money". Then there is the spirit or weight of confusion. People are crying "I don't understand, what do I need to do, can I or can't I" We are hearing the stories of family, friends, and maybe those against you that have died. As the darkness creeps closer in our direction and the death cries sound louder: we also have been given a command "STAY IN THE HOUSE, SHELTER IN PLACE".
Now our governors are referring to a physical building/location although that IS sound instruction I'm talking about A DIFFERENT HOUSE FOR GOD'S PEOPLE. NO, I'm not referring to a brick and mortar structure, but a SPIRITUAL HABITATION. This IS NOT THE TIME TO EXIT, but to REMAIN UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. YES, we will hear the cries of loved ones and be tempted to go out for "just a second", but DON'T EXIT THE HOUSE. GOD IS Faithful to His word and people. WE DON'T KNOW WHEN OR IF THE DEATH ANGEL will come to our house, but we DO KNOW IT WON'T MATTER IF WE STAY IN THE HOUSE.
Don't become consumed with the "WHY"of this situation, but STAY FAITHFUL TO YOUR YES LORD, and when this pass WE WILL WITNESS AN EXODUS with THE BLESSINGS OF GOD MANIFESTED IN OUR LIVES. SHOUTING THE VICTORY AGAIN
EXODUS 12:13 –“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I WILL PASS OVER YOU, and the PLAGUE SHALL NOT BE UPON YOU TO DESTROY YOU, when I smite the land of Egypt.”
