HEALTH UPDATE from Pastor Stephen

Yesterday was a day of good progress with physical therapy and and exercise. This has been a very tough week, but I am thankful to be discharged from the hospital last Tuesday, and am now living in our apartment, which is an incredible blessing.

I was in the hospital for 15 days, and a couple of times in ICU. I suffered a heart attack, went through a heart cath, dealt with Afib, 2 CT scans on my horribly swollen legs, and other unpleasantries. God has sustained me and I know “He Who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it.”

Unfortunately, the next day after I was discharged, I had to be re-admitted and treated in the ER. They sent me home, but the issue — significant bleeding from a clot in my side drainage port — was not resolved.

So, Thursday, I went back for more tests and one of my surgeons fixed it the blood clot issue. I’m still in constant pain, but everyone says I am progressing well. My heart and Grant Simpson’s kidney are both working very well, praise God.

So, it’s two steps forward, one back. But yesterday was a big step forward. I’m sorry I look like the Lake Belton Goat Man, but one day, I’ll be my old James Bond self again.

My wife, Susanne, tells me I was dreaming last night and I woke her up with my singing and shouting, “Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!”
She has been an amazing companion and champ for me in every moment.

PRAYER REQUESTS

1. Easy Sticks when blood must be taken or given. My left arm and both hands are a black and blue disaster zone.

2. Continued strength in my new kidney and my heart and arteries.

3. Overcoming weakness and pain in my core, back, and legs; performing basic every day physical functions; good blood sugar control.

4. Removal of my side surgical port and staples.

5. Overcoming constant pain, breathlessness, fatigue.
