We have so many memories on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. Here is a particularly poignant memory of Father Mychal Judge, NYFD Chaplain and the first certified fatality of the September 11th attacks:

"You do what God has called you to do. You show up. You put one foot in front of another. You get on the rig and you go out and you do the job – which is a mystery. And a surprise.

You have no idea when you get on that rig. No matter how big the call. No matter how small.

You have no idea what God is calling you to. But He needs you. He needs me. He needs all of us.”

“One Nation Under God” was the theme of this year’s Faustino Club Retreat, held earlier this week. The Faustino Club cultivates Marianist vocations among young men from Chaminade and Kellenberg Memorial High Schools. We visited the Blessed Michael McGivney Church and Pilgrimage Center in New Haven, CT; watched the film “Cabrini”; had Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; and enjoyed the beauty of Founder’s Hollow. With American saints as our guides, we made a beautiful retreat marking the 250th birthday of our great nation.

A joyous day! Yesterday, the Province of Meribah celebrated the 50th Jubilee of its foundation with Mass and a reception at Kellenberg Memorial High School. Bishop John Barres was the principal celebrant. Fr. Thomas Cardone preached the homily and focused on three pillars of our Marianist life: Vocation, Mission, and Mary. As our founder, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, stated, “It is for us an infinite honor to be like Him by being a living expression of the life He when He was among men. Now it is by Mary that this life is communicated to us.“

They called it a “magical day” when they arrived in Compostela! And now our pilgrims are venerating the relics of St. James the Great and celebrating the completion of 5 days, 75 miles of walking on this revered pilgrim way. Congratulations, pilgrims, and pray for all of us back at home.

One Province, Three Pilgrimages: Firebirds from Kellenberg Memorial are on pilgrimages in Lourdes, France, and and Rome, Italy. Meanwhile, Flyers from Chaminade have just begun their pilgrimage to Spain. They are currently in Barcelona and will soon be making the Camino de Santiago. May God bless them all with safe travels and a grace-filled spiritual journey.
