Generosity isn't about obligation — it's about what happens when the grace of God gets ahold of you.

When Jesus changes your life, something shifts. Money and possessions don't lose their value — but Jesus starts to matter more. And when He matters more, you find yourself holding what you have with open hands, ready to be used however He sees fit. Generosity flows not from pressure or guilt, but from a heart that has been overwhelmed by grace.

That's the heart behind this message. The good news of Jesus changes everything. While we were still far from God, Christ came, lived perfectly, and went to a cross to give us a new life and a fresh start. And the natural response to that kind of love? "If there's a way You can use this, I'm in." To follow Jesus is to be generous — and that's not a burden. It's a beautiful, freeing way to live.

In this week's message, we see a church so gripped by God’s grace that “no one claimed that any of their possessions was their own” and “there were no needy persons among them.” They shared what they had, not because they were forced, but because Jesus had changed their hearts.

Generosity isn’t about guilt. It’s about trust. It’s believing every “good and perfect gift” really does come from God and choosing to hold what He’s given us with open hands.

You don’t have to have it all together to come to Jesus—just bring your real life and let Him meet you there.

Faith in Jesus is not about pretending life is fine. It’s about discovering a God who meets you in the middle of the hard stuff and gives you strength to keep going. A faithful church isn’t one that never struggles; it’s one that turns to God, stays rooted in Him, and keeps moving forward together.

Our mission at The Crossing is to develop devoted followers of Jesus, and we are celebrating a leader who has been living that out day in and day out.

We’re officially recognizing Austin Garrett as our Associate Minister at The Crossing, while he continues to serve as our Student Minister. Austin has already been shepherding beyond student ministry, teaching, counseling, and helping lead our church family toward deeper devotion to Jesus.

We’re grateful for his heart for the gospel, his care for students and families, and his faithfulness and leadership behind the scenes.

When life feels overwhelming, the first move isn’t to focus on the problem—it’s to focus on the God who reigns above it.

In Acts 4, the early church shows us a better way to pray: they don’t begin with fear, pressure, or the size of their problem. They begin with God. Before they talk about what’s happening around them, they remind themselves who is in control, and they anchor their hearts in what God has already said in Scripture.

That kind of prayer brings confidence, because it shifts our perspective. Instead of trying to interpret God through our circumstances, we learn to interpret our circumstances through God’s Word. And for anyone carrying anxiety, uncertainty, or discouragement, this is good news: God is not surprised by what you’re facing, and you don’t have to face it alone.

What are you praying for right now—comfort, control, or Christ’s purposes? This week we saw how the early church didn’t ask for an easier path; they asked God to make them faithful, bold, and filled with His presence.

Maybe the prayer we need most is not “Lord, change my situation,” but “Lord, change me in it.”
