Monday Message

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Matthew 5:9

Keeping the peace is seemingly impossible. It certainly is impossible from a world-wide standpoint. Has there ever been peace except for maybe when Adam and Eve first arrived on the planet? That quickly diminished when Eve chose to eat the apple and Adam joined in.
Peace on the planet was no more.

But we are told, that because we have been given Christ as a gift of love and hope from God, that peace can come again. First we have to accept Jesus into our lives, and know without doubt, what He has done for us. Jesus gave His life for us, and absorbed our sins so that we can be free of them.
With that knowledge, it is an intent for us to live as a reflection of Jesus and bring others to Him.
Knowing what Jesus has done and wanting to pass it on to others, builds the kingdom of heaven.

Does it mean we run from conflict?
No. We are not asked in the Bible to pretend that there are not any issues in the world that need to be fought for, or that we SHOULD “fight” for.

Social injustices, for instance, are causes we need to involve ourselves with. Those issues that bleed racism, oppression, sexism, ageism, sexuality and harassment. These issues separate people from each other. The peacemaker wants to bring every one together, because Christ wants us to live peacefully together. Our hope for eternal life is in Christ.

Blessed are the peacemakers.

Amen

Thursday Message

Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

When I tried to get my suitcases up two flights of stairs, into my room on a trip several years ago, (there was no elevator), I realized those bags were much more than I could handle by myself. I was tearing up the wheels on my bags trying to haul them up, and hurting myself in the process. So as the week went on and I met the group that was with me, and we got to know each other, I found the solution to my burden of getting them back down at the end of the week. I needed someone stronger than me.

It was easier to ask for help a week later to get them back down the stairs, taking the lifting of those burdensome, weighted suitcases away from me, and giving it to someone else who could carry those rectangular burdens better than me.

As we get to know God, we realize we no longer have to depend on ourselves to carry our emotional, physical, or any heavy burdens—we need to give them to God and let Him take care of it. The more we get to know about God through the scriptures and being around other Christians, the more we understand God and are understanding of this truth. It takes awhile, (I know), to see the results of faith and diligence. We need to dig deep and explore the Word to see this happen over and over again in faith-filled people, but it will happen if you are committed to finding the truth.

We do not need to carry our burdens alone. We have Divine help.

Amen.

Wednesday Message

“My God, my God, why have you left me?” (Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34)

Hard to conceive that even Jesus lost a momentary faithfulness in God, to deliver Him out of the pain of cruxifixction on the cross. It was a fleeting moment. That was the human side of Christ.

We all have long moments of losing that assurance that God has us and that in our pain we lose that “faith assurance” that it will turn around at some point and that pain will diminish, or that problem we have, will be solved. Sometimes it is a longer wait than we want. Sometimes it seems to be instantaneous. Holding onto faith is difficult, even for the most seasoned Christian. We are people that want instant solutions, gratification and restoration.

God works on His own timing though. We can pray to God to give us greater faith in Him, and assurance in His power.

Amen

Tuesday Message

James 4:13-16
‘Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a v***r that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.’

We all have a set time for our lives. We have from the day of birth. God has the pages of our book written already. We can make plans all we want but ultimately it is in God’s hands as to whether we will see them come into fruition. In making our plans to travel or do a certain activity, we need to keep in mind to be cognizant of God in those plans. When people ask or are curious about what you are up to, remember to remind them that “Well, if it is in God’s planning, I am hoping to do such and such.”

James tried to get this point across to those in verse 14, planning a business venture. He tried to inform them that in all of their planning of a trip and its outcome that they left out a vital piece. Where was God in all of it?

We are boastful and arrogant, James says, if we think that anything we do-that we don’t need God at the top of those plans to help us through them and for us to remember that in our planning-we are really just a v***r.
Seek God in all things.

Amen

Monday Message

Psalm 143:8

“If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice, I'll go to sleep each night trusting in you. Point out the road I must travel; I'm all ears, all eyes before you.”

When God allows us to wake up each morning from a restful night, because we have trusted Him, then why wouldn’t we trust Him with our daytime also? All we have to do is listen for His direction through the Spirit. Trust Him in all you do and eventually you will feel the trust expand in your life.

Open your heart, and mind, to trusting in Jesus Christ, and for God’s Spirit to lead you today, and tomorrow, and for your life.

Amen
