As we begin this powerful nine-day journey together, we turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus — a Heart burning with love for every one of us.
Today we pray for the grace to experience Christ’s personal love and to learn from His Heart how to show compassion to the world.
Day 1 of the National Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
June 3 — Heart of Jesus, aflame with love for us -
Lord, I come to Your tender Heart today, to You who
have words that set my heart ablaze, to You who pour
out compassion on the little ones and the poor, on
those who suffer, and on all human miseries.
I desire to know You more, to contemplate You in the
Gospel, to be with You and learn from You and from
the charity with which You allowed Yourself to be
touched by all forms of poverty.
You showed us the Father’s love by loving us without
measure with Your divine and human Heart.
Grant all Your children the grace of encountering You.
Change, shape, and transform our plans, so that we
seek only You in every circumstance: in prayer, in
work, in encounters, and in our daily routine.
From this encounter, send us out on mission, a
mission of compassion for the world in which You are
the source from which all consolation flows.
Amen.
Will you pray with us today? Drop a in the comments if you’re joining the novena!
We’ll be back tomorrow with Day 2. Let’s prepare our hearts together for the historic consecration of our nation on June 11.

Today we honor Saints Marcellinus and Peter, early Christian martyrs who remained faithful to Christ during a time of persecution. Marcellinus, a priest, and Peter, an exorcist, devoted their lives to serving God and His people, witnessing to the Gospel with courage and steadfast faith.

Their example reminds us that true strength is found in trusting the Lord, even amid trials and uncertainty. Through their fidelity and sacrifice, they inspire us to remain rooted in faith, to serve others with love, and to place our hope in the promise of eternal life.

Saints Marcellinus and Peter, pray for us.

Today we honor St. John I, pope and martyr, who remained faithful to Christ and the Church even in the face of imprisonment and suffering. Through humility, courage, and steadfast devotion, he bore witness to the truth of the Gospel during a time of great conflict and uncertainty.

St. John I reminds us that faithfulness often requires perseverance and trust in God, especially in difficult times. May his example inspire us to remain firm in our faith, to seek unity and peace, and to place our hope always in the Lord.

St. John I, pray for us.

Today we honor St. Dymphna, a young martyr remembered for her courage, purity, and deep trust in God. Over the centuries, she has become a source of comfort and hope for those struggling with mental illness, anxiety, emotional suffering, and those who care for them.

St. Dymphna reminds us that no one suffers alone and that God’s compassion reaches into even our deepest wounds. May her gentle intercession bring peace to troubled hearts, strength to caregivers, and hope to all who seek healing and comfort in the Lord.

St. Dymphna, pray for us.

Today we honor St. Isidore the Laborer, a humble farmer whose life was marked by hard work, deep prayer, and trust in God’s providence. Though simple in worldly status, he lived with great holiness, offering his daily labor to the Lord and caring generously for the poor.

St. Isidore reminds us that sanctity is found not only in extraordinary deeds, but in faithfulness to God in the ordinary moments of life. May his example inspire us to work with integrity, pray with sincerity, and trust that God blesses even the simplest acts done with love.

St. Isidore the Laborer, pray for us.

Today we honor St. Matthias, the apostle chosen to take the place of Judas and continue the mission entrusted by Christ to the Twelve. Though little is recorded about his life, his faithful “yes” reminds us that God calls ordinary people to extraordinary service in His Kingdom.

St. Matthias teaches us the importance of perseverance, humility, and readiness to answer God’s call. May his example inspire us to trust in the Lord’s plan, remain faithful in our discipleship, and serve Christ with generous hearts.

St. Matthias, pray for us.

Today we honor Our Lady of Fatima, who appeared to three shepherd children in Portugal with a message of prayer, repentance, and peace. Through her loving guidance, Mary called the world to turn back to God, to pray the Rosary faithfully, and to trust in the mercy of her Son, Jesus Christ.

Our Lady of Fatima reminds us that even in times of fear and uncertainty, hope is found in prayer and in the loving heart of God. May her message inspire us to deepen our faith, seek peace in our hearts and in the world, and draw ever closer to Christ through Mary.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Today we honor Saints Nereus and Achilleus, early Christian martyrs who courageously gave their lives for Christ. Though once soldiers of the Roman Empire, they chose faithfulness to the Gospel over earthly power, witnessing to the strength and hope found in Jesus.

Their lives remind us that true courage is rooted not in force, but in fidelity to God. In a world often marked by division and fear, their witness calls us to stand firm in faith, to live with integrity, and to place our trust in Christ above all else.

May their example inspire us to remain steadfast in our beliefs and to follow the Lord with courage and devotion.

Saints Nereus and Achilleus, pray for us.
