Today we honor St. Teresa of Calcutta, a religious sister and missionary whose life was devoted to serving Christ in the poorest and most vulnerable. Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, she founded the Missionaries of Charity and spent her life caring for the sick, the dying, the homeless, and those who felt forgotten or abandoned.
St. Teresa reminded the world that every person possesses immeasurable dignity because every person is loved by God. She saw Christ in those she served and taught that even the smallest acts of kindness, when offered with love, can become powerful expressions of faith.
Her life was also marked by profound prayer and perseverance, including seasons when she experienced a deep sense of God's silence. Yet she continued to serve faithfully, trusting in Christ even when she could not feel His presence.
May St. Teresa of Calcutta inspire us to see Christ in every person we encounter, especially those who are suffering or in need, and to respond with compassion, humility, and love.
St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
