Fire Drill
A little boy came home from school and told his mother about a fire that occurred. “Well, it should have happened, he told his mother, after all that practicing.”

This is an attitude that Christians should never adopt. The devil loves a pessimistic Christian. He’s the one who coined the phrase, “I knew this would happen.” For him, the glass isn’t just half-empty; it has a crack at the top and is cutting his lip. Pessimism is neither a product of faith nor of God. Every Christian must understand two incredible truths: 1) Who you are and 2) Whose you are. The wonderful reality is that you are a fearfully and wonderfully made man or woman. God gave you a mind that is unmatched—both intelligent and articulate. In Genesis 11:6, as men tried to build a tower to heaven, God said this about these determined people: “nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined doing.” Did you catch that? God said they could do anything their imaginations could conceive. You, too, are His creation, and the same applies to you. This is what the big man upstairs believes about you. So, who are you? You are what God says you are. You are the righteousness of God. You are the head and not the tail. You are a victor and not a victim. Remind yourself: I am healthy, wealthy, and wise. I am a winner in all areas of my life.

Secondly, whose are you? You belong to God. This is a powerful statement. You are God’s child and blessed beyond measure. As His child, you can expect a positive outcome in every battle. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28 - KJV).” Remember, God has got your back. And because you belong to Him, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17- KJV).” All of heaven supports you as you do our Father’s will. Now, you must change your attitude as you face challenges in life. Let’s not practice expecting the business to fail, expecting the marriage to fall apart, expecting not to have money to pay your bills. Know who you are and whose you are in Christ. Go in faith and boldness, expecting God to show up and make a way.
