Shuntay Henderson graduated May 16, 2026 from Cordova High School. She will be attending TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology) with a focus on Graphic Design. Shuntay loves to draw, paint, crochet, sew and make jewelry.

Graduate Spotlight!

Phoenix Alexander Forbes Battle is a proud graduating senior from Memphis East High School Class of 2026. Throughout high school, Phoenix demonstrated dedication, leadership, and resilience through academics, athletics, and extracurricular involvement. He was a four-year varsity football player and earned the honor of participating in the Shelby County All Star Game. He was also a member of the band for four years, completed the Diesel Mechanics program, and successfully completed dual enrollment courses. Phoenix’s academic achievements include membership in both the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. This fall, he will attend Tennessee State University to major in Human Performance and Sports Sciences as he continues to build a future centered on leadership, growth, and perseverance.

Graduate Spotlight!

Ashley Jackson proudly graduated from Tennessee State University on May 2, 2026, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with Cum Laude honors. During her time at TSU, Ashley consistently displayed a strong commitment to academic excellence and leadership, earning a place on the Dean’s List seven times throughout her collegiate career. Beyond academics, Ashley was deeply involved on campus and within the community. She served on the Student Government Association Executive Committee, participated in the Pre-Alumni Council, contributed to the NAACP, and was an active member of Girls Evolve. She also dedicated her time to numerous community service initiatives and campus engagement activities, leaving a meaningful impact wherever she served. Driven by compassion and a passion for helping others, with more schooling Ashley plans to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. She is committed to promoting oral health, providing quality patient care, and making a positive difference in the lives of those she serves through professionalism and empathy.

Graduate Spotlight!

Ava Love, the daughter of Sis. LaQuesha & Rev. Michael Love, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southwest Tennessee Community College with her associate degree in Early Childhood Education on May 14, 2026. Ava works as a Youth Coordinator with the Youth Ministry at the Ascension Baptist Church; she sings in the Mass Choir & the Young Adult Choir. During her time at Southwest, Ava served as the SGA President and Vice President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and as a Peer Tutor in the Academic Support Center. Also, during her time at Southwest, she received an award for Outstanding Peer Tutor & Student Leadership for her outstanding academic record and leadership both in and outside of the classroom. Ava will continue her education at the University of Memphis to obtain her bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in K-12 Education. Ava would first like to thank God for all his blessings he has bestowed upon her. Next, she would like to thank her family for their continuous support. And, lastly, she would like to thank her Ascension Church family for your continuous prayers and support.
