Dallas, July 1976. UNAC-5. The very first national gathering that would grow into the convention we celebrate today — 50 summers later.

The wardrobe! The style! The legends that are present! These moments are forever engraved in our hearts!

These images were captured by the late Joe Clifton, who was there from that very first UNAC-5 with his camera in hand. Joe has gone on to glory, but his work lives on — every frame a piece of our history he preserved for us. We honor him and we thank him. 🤍

Dallas, July 1976. UNAC-5. The very first national gathering that would grow into the convention we celebrate today — 50 summers later.

The crisp white suits. The platform shoes and the leather skirts. The pearls, the wide-brim hats, the sunglasses worn just right. And the HAIR — afros for days, laid and lifted to the heavens. 🙌🏾 They came correct, saints. They always did.
