Park Avenue Church

Park Avenue Church Park Avenue was founded in 1944 in the Normal Station Community. Park Avenue exists to make disciples of Christ to the glory of God

Mission:
Our mission at PAC is to make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them until Jesus returns. Christ has commissioned his Church with the task of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, calling people to repent and believe, and then equipping them to grow in Christian maturity. Vision
Our vision helps explain how we seek to fulfill our mission. We strive to do this together, w

ith God's help, through ten dimensions of church life. (We gladly affirm the Ten Dimensions of Church Life put forward by the Treasuring Christ Together Church Planting Network.) Worship: Enjoying and displaying the worth of Christ in God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit led, Bible-saturated corporate worship, including congregational singing and expository exultation. Prayer: Commitment to depend on God's grace and mercy in personal, family, and corporate prayer, so that in all our blessings the Giver will get the glory. Mutual Care: Corporate commitment to pursue a life together in sacrificial, faith-sustaining care for each other in loving relationships at every level of youth and age, joy and sorrow, comfort and crisis, health and brokenness. Education: Personal efforts to grow and help each other grow in biblical truth, wisdom, faith, and love, which show Christ as our supreme treasure. Leadership: Humble submission to spiritual, biblically-qualified elders who lead by example, not dominion, and with joy, not under compulsion, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, including aggressive efforts to multiply congregational leaders. Legacy: The commitment of church and parents to train up succeeding generations of children and youth who live the vision of the church. Witness: Personal and corporate strategies of wartime living, courageous witness, and social action to show the supreme value of Christ to fallen people and fallen culture. Gospel Harmony: Intentional efforts to display love across ethnic, cultural, generational, and socioeconomic lines and to be a church that models the fruit of that love. Compassion: Personal and corporate expressions of compassion to relieve human suffering, near and far, by means of short-term intervention and long-term personal and structural change, in order to show the justice, mercy, and soul-satisfying beauty of Christ forever. Missions: Corporate efforts in cross-cultural missions for the sake of the name of Christ among unreached peoples.

Observing the Lord's Supper is a reminder of the meal that awaits us with King Jesus!

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” - Revelation 19:6-10

"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." - 1 John 1:5

May the light seen inside Park Avenue be a testimony to the glorious mercy and grace the Lord is doing in the lives of members at Park Avenue. May the darkness outside be a reminder of our calling to reach the lost for the glory of the King!

Earlier this year we had the honor and privilege to send out one of our pastors and his family as he began pastoring another church. We are thankful for the many years of faithfulness at Park Avenue. At Park Avenue we desire to be a sending church in the work of church planting and revitalizing as the Lord allows.
