"Don't Go Back To The Grave" — John 20:1-18
Bishop Ed Stephens, Jr | Sunday, April 12, 2026
1. A Shift in Perspective >>> Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb expecting to find a body, but the empty tomb was proof that God was doing a new thing.
2. The Danger of the Past >>> It is easy to gravitate back to the "grave"—the familiar places of grief, failure, exes or old habits—when things get difficult.
3. Stop Looking Down >>> Like Mary, we often focus on the empty space (the loss) rather than the living Savior standing right behind us.
4. Recognize His Voice >>> Jesus called Mary by name. When the world calls you by your past, listen for the Master who calls you by your purpose.
5. Don't Cling to the Old >>> Jesus told Mary, "Do not hold on to me," signaling that the way we relate to Him must evolve as we move into a new season.
6. The Assignment >>> Mary was the first to announce the Resurrection. Your deliverance isn't just for you; it's a message for the "brothers" and the world.
🔑 What old habit, dead relationship, or past failure are you still visiting? The stone is already rolled away, but you have to decide to walk away from the cemetery.
🗣 Leave the grave clothes behind and step into your new season. Jesus is calling your name—don't answer to your past, answer to Him! Move forward!
