For David, attending the Band of Brothers Bootcamp with the CF Men wasn’t just a “weekend retreat” — it was a life transformation.
After years of being a “casual, Sunday Christian,” painful seasons including divorce and years of single parenting, he had slowly drifted and become more isolated than he realized. But his wife, Jency, knew that what he needed was to come home to the Lord. She prayed fervently, faithfully, and continually for God to reach her husband.
At times, David sensed God drawing his attention, but he was still not fully ready to surrender. And when the invitation to attend Band of Brothers with the CF Men came along, it was no different — the idea felt uncomfortable, and he tried to get out of it, but ultimately, persistence won out, and he agreed to attend.
At the boot camp, God met David in a deeply personal way. Throughout the weekend, David was challenged to see himself as a man called to fight for his faith, his wife, and his family, as God began bringing things to the surface. One session on fatherhood brought deep conviction as David reflected on the years he raised his kids and wished he had been more present. It was emotional, honest, and difficult, but he was not left in shame. Instead, God used that moment to bring grace, clarity, and a renewed desire to move forward with intention.
In the weeks since, David’s faith has become more than just a Sunday routine. He now spends time with God daily: “Now I’m actually thinking about the nature of God on a daily basis, not just Sundays.”
Two weeks ago, David made the decision to be baptized, surrounded by his wife and his brothers in Christ. He was baptized as a child, but this time it was his own decision.
Today, he is grateful for the men God has placed around him. He expressed that this brotherhood has brought him more than he ever imagined. Once isolated, he is now excited to grow in community, walk with his brothers in Christ, and continue following Jesus with intention.
