What is our Loneliness & Coffee gathering, you may ask? It is a time for anyone to meet and discuss the loneliness in their lives. Loneliness is a type of silent epidemic that we do not hear much about.
At our gatherings, I cannot promise the attendees that this group will take away anyone's loneliness. But I can promise that we will create a place where people can be seen, heard, welcomed, and given opportunities to take their next steps toward connection.

One of my favorite hymns is: It Is Well with My Soul! It was written by a man who had decided to take his wife and daughters to Europe, after loosing his 4 year old son to scarlet fever. The author, Horatio, was delayed in New York and sent his wife and daughters on ahead by sailing them on the French liner "Ville du Havre". The ship sailed off but during the early hours of Nov. 22, 1873, the ship collided with an iron sailing vessel, and his 4 daughters drowned in the icy ocean. The wife was saved. Eager to join his wife, Horatio booked a passage and at the appropriate time - the captain called him aside and said: I believe we are now passing over the place where the Ville du Havre went down." Horatio went back to his cabin and could not sleep. Later, he wrote the words to It Is Well with My Soul.
This song tells us that during good times, heartbreaking times, times when we have been released from our sins, times when we get old and prepay to die - because God is With Us - it can be Well With Our Souls tool It's a song of strength that address real life.
So, perhaps one day, you will hear this song at my memorial when Jesus has called me home. Know on that day: It indeed will be well with my soul!
