We may not feel ready or certain about making a move, but God lovingly gives us a chance to flex our faith and trust him for the outcome.

Scripture has this to say about following God’s plan, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see . . . By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going” (Hebrews 11:1, 8, emphasis added). Are you in the middle of one of life’s surprises right now? Are you at a place you never expected to be? Are you unsure of what will happen next?

Welcome to reality.

While the myth that we should “know” God’s plan for our lives still floats around Christian circles, the truth is quite different.

We live by faith and not by sight (see 2 Corinthians 5:7). If you knew every aspect of God’s plan for your life, clearly labeled in triplicate form, why would you need faith?

The moment of absolute certainty rarely comes. Consider Abraham. He didn’t have a clue where he was going. But he went anyway. Think of Samuel, whom God called as a child. Do you think a young boy understood the scope of God’s plan for his life? Certainly not. But these people moved forward in faith, as did all the spiritual heroes.

We must move forward. In preparation, we pray and seek godly counsel. We search the Scriptures and meditate on God’s truths. And then it comes time to decide. To make a move. We may not feel ready or certain, but God lovingly gives us a chance to flex our faith and trust him for the outcome.

The Bible is about people in a fluid, dynamic relationship with God. It’s not a treasure map. It’s not a blueprint spelling out Steps A, B and C for God’s plan for you. Instead of outlining methods to find God’s plan, it teaches the principles of finding God’s heart. The living God leads through relationship. When we understand this, we start to seek his face, not his hand. We stop wanting to find God’s plan so that we might find God instead. No longer capriciously wanting the “answer,” we want the one who knows the answer.

When was the last time you stepped out in faith and trusted God for the outcome?

When Jesus called His first disciples, some of them were skeptical. The gospel of John records how Nathanael was not immediately convinced that Jesus could be the man of whom the holy Scriptures were speaking for centuries. Jesus did not meet all of his expectations. For one thing, He was not from the religious ‘place-to-be,’ but from Nazareth. This was confusing to many people. Some turned their back on Jesus for this reason. Nathanael was encouraged by Philip not to stay stuck in his doubts, but to “come and see” for himself! That was the right thing to do for with just a few sentences, Jesus convinced him that He was the Son of God and the King of Israel. Nathanael became a disciple and followed Jesus for three years. During this time, he learned a lot about Jesus’ identity and mission by listening to His teaching and watching His miracles.

We can’t see Jesus in His physical body for ourselves anymore. But, we have four Bible books full of records of His words and deeds. I encourage you to read these to get to know Jesus for yourself! Let Him convince you of His true identity. Nobody else can.

“On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.”

The troubles we may encounter in this life will sometimes knock us down. Don't forget, as believers and followers of the Lord Jesus, we will not be knocked down for good. If we let him, Jesus will pick us up, help us dust off and confront anything in our way. Satan may sometimes win the battle but he's not going to win the war in the end and he knows it!

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

WALKER MADE IT HOME! HE IS WITH JESUS!

I AM PERPETUALLY WITH YOU, taking care of you. That is the most important fact of your existence. I am not limited by time or space; My Presence with you is a forever-promise. You need not fear the future, for I am already there. When you make that quantum leap into eternity, you will find Me awaiting you in heaven. Your future is in My hands; I release it to you day by day, moment by moment. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.

I want you to live this day abundantly, seeing all there is to see, doing all there is to do. Don’t be distracted by future concerns. Leave them to Me! Each day of life is a glorious gift, but so few people know how to live within the confines of today. Much of their energy for abundant living spills over the time line into tomorrow’s worries or past regrets. Their remaining energy is sufficient only for limping through the day, not for living it to the full. I am training you to keep your focus on My Presence in the present. This is how to receive abundant Life, which flows freely from My throne of grace.

Hold Fast~ Our Confession
Hebrews 4

To all of you who have committed yourselves to long suffering with our son Walker. You are precious to us.

Jacob and I have had to make some extremely difficult decisions for Walker lately.

3 weeks ago we knew it was time to enroll Walker into the Hospice program that St. Jude provides. We have been asking God daily and hourly for wisdom.

We know God isn’t like us and He gives the best gifts, wisdom being one of the greatest. He never changes. We can trust Him. He told us that He doesn’t give as the world gives. Again, better gifts, just not gifts that are perishable.

Walker is dying. He is going to go be with the Lord soon, however long that is we don’t know, but I know God does. Our hope is to let him die at our Apartment we have here in Memphis, surrounded by his family. The hospital is right for many people, but we are asking you to please go before the Lord and to ask Him to let our family have some privacy for this grief we are bearing and for his departure to be with Jesus.

We now take it day by day, moment by moment, just as we always have. We are enjoying Walker and reminiscing of God’s faithfulness over his life these last 3 years as he has endured his health sufferings. We are also praising God for all 5 years of his life on this earth that He has given us.

There are truly no words to describe how incredibly difficult this walk has been and yet, I truly would do it all over again. The Holy Spirit’s work to transform us into the Image of Jesus, far exceeds all that pain and more.

Please continue to pray for Walker, pray for his siblings, pray for Jacob and I, and pray for each person who loves him dearly.

I am clinging to the Apostle Paul’s words in Romans 6:5-7.

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”
