Marshall Ventress Millner, Jr., 62, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 30, 1963, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Marshall Ventress Millner, Sr. and late Mabel Hairston Millner.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol McKenzie.
Marshall attended Morning Star Holy Church. He was a hardworking man. He worked for many years at National Textile and later dedicated ten years of service to Martinsville City Public School as a bus driver. Marshall enjoyed the simple things, he loved sports, good food, joking, and telling stories. Music also held a special place in his heart, and he especially enjoyed singing along to his favorite songs while riding in the car.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his longtime companion, Sallie Farris, his daughters, Quintara Farris, Odesia Millner, and Diamond Turner; his sisters, Marilyn Millner, Cheryl Millner, and Melissa Gravely (James); his brothers, Kerry Millner and Darryl Millner; his brother-in-law, William “Bill” McKenzie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Morning Star Holy Church, with Rev. Tyler C. Millner officiating. Interment will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. The family will receive friends other times at the residence, 909 Royal Drive, Martinsville, Virginia 24112, daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
