This is a picture of a bruised, broken, and shattered heart caused by rejection, loss of a loved one, lies,
gossip, loss of income, being pushed aside by a friend, and the list goes on. Many times in the cover of darkness while the family sleeps, we go to another room hoping for answers to “why the heart break.” Then the sun comes up, and the acting continues. “No, I’m fine.” But deep inside we know we’re lying.

You may be thinking “you’re being overly dramatic.” But in real life the above happens more times than we can imagine and the pain continues. Is there an answer?

The answer is found in the power of worship. It’s in the lifting of our hands, asking our Father to touch our heart. What really takes place when we lift our hands and ask the Lord to heal our bruised, broken, and sometimes shattered heart?

Jesus gets involved. He begins to take the broken pieces and welds our heart back together.

But there are scars. When the enemy sees our scars he knows this is the work of the Holy Spirit. He will think twice before he attacks you again.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Motorists who travel Illinois 37 south of Marion should prepare for a full weekend road closure beginning Friday evening.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says Illinois 37 will close in both directions at 6 p.m. Friday, July 17, between Norris Road and Maxine Lane, about one mile south of Marion. The closure is needed so crews can replace a culvert beneath the roadway as part of the ongoing Illinois 37 improvement project.

A signed detour will direct traffic along Illinois 148 and Interstate 57 while the road is closed. The closure is expected to remain in place through 6 a.m. Monday, July 20, weather permitting.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, follow posted detour signs, avoid distractions, and watch for workers and equipment in and around the construction zone.
