LA Mission Trip 2026

What an honor and a privilege it is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in one of our favorite places. The people we met and the stories we have heard had a tremendous impact on all of us. Thank you Jesus for calling us and equipping us. Thank you for being a light in the dark. More to come later. Now we just are thankful.

We’ll see you soon, Second Family!

Christian Youth and Children’s Camps remain one of the most effective environments for evangelism and spiritual growth, because they provide something that is increasingly rare in today’s world: uninterrupted time with the Lord, Christian community, and God’s Word being proclaimed daily.

Here are 10 reasons why they should be supported, and how they continue to make a lasting impact:

1. Students are removed from everyday distractions.

Away from phones, social media, sports, and school pressures, students are often more attentive to hearing God’s voice (Mark 1:35).

2. Extended exposure to God’s Word.

Instead of hearing one sermon a week, students spend several days immersed in biblical teaching, worship, prayer, and Scripture.

3. The Holy Spirit often uses concentrated time.

Throughout Scripture, God frequently worked during seasons of retreat and focused encounters (Moses on Sinai, Elijah at Horeb, Jesus in the wilderness, the disciples with Jesus).

4. Relationships are deepened.

Shared experiences create authentic friendships that encourage faith long after camp ends (Hebrews 10:24–25).

5. Life-changing decisions happen.

Many people can point to camp as the place where they trusted Christ, surrendered to ministry, repented of sin, or recommitted their lives to following Jesus.

6. It creates space for honest conversations.

Students often open up about struggles, doubts, addictions, and hurts in ways they never would in a one-hour weekly gathering.

7. Worship becomes more than a routine.

Without the rush of everyday life, students often engage in worship with greater focus and sincerity.

8. Students encounter faithful adults.

Camp exposes them to pastors, speakers, counselors, and volunteers who model what it looks like to follow Jesus faithfully.

9. It interrupts unhealthy patterns.

Sometimes a change of environment is exactly what God uses to break destructive habits and begin new ones (Romans 12:2).

10. Camp is a catalyst, not the finish line.

The goal isn’t emotional experiences; it’s launching students into lifelong discipleship through the local church. Camp works best when it’s connected to ongoing discipleship before and after the event.

Christian Camp doesn’t replace the ministry of the local church—it amplifies it by creating an environment where students can hear the gospel clearly, respond wholeheartedly, and return home ready to grow as disciples of Jesus.
