May’s cooking class featured Resa and Abby! Resa is the one who started the cooking classes! She is a cancer survivor and wants to share heathy plant-based cooking ideas with others since God has been so good to her!
They made tofu sarciado, salad with parsley dressing, and bibingka! Bibingka is a casava cake. Everything was so delicious!

April’s cooking class was hosted by the Leiske family! We had Tadka dal, fragrant basmati rice, non-butter vegetables and black-bean brownies! It was a very interesting class and I was so excited about the food that I forgot to take pictures! So here are a few that were taken by someone else. I plan to try substituting the cocoa powder and chocolate chips for carob powder and carob chips. Hopefully, it tastes just as good.

Folk Mountain Gospel

We have been traveling around the country since 1988,
sharing the love of Jesus through music and song. As the
Lord continues to open doors and to direct us to share His
message of love and grace in song, our plan is to follow
Him wherever He leads the way.
Our music is a blend of “mountain” and “folk” style
gospel. We play traditional and Biblical instruments such
as the Bowed Psaltery, Hammered Dulcimer, Mountain
Dulcimer, Mandolin, Zither, Banjo, Autoharp,Guitar, and
Harmonica. We also sing the good old hymns of faith,
more recent gospel songs and some songs that our family
has written related to family values, the grace of Jesus, our
Savior, and the love of God. Come and enjoy some folk
mountain music and heart-warming stories designed to
encourage and inspire.

Please join us in our 5K cancer walk and run on Sunday May 31 at 8:00 am.

At 10:00am, participants are invited to a free plant-based brunch hosted by Marion Seventh-Day Adventist Church!

Registration is $20 and additional donations are welcome. Payments can be made by cash, check, or Venmo.

All proceeds go to a member of the community who is fighting breast cancer.
