Leader: When we feel discouraged and defeated, unsure we will ever really be able to make ends meet and worried that no matter how hard we work, it will never be enough, we cry out to God…
People: And God listens to us.
Leader: When we feel lost and forgotten, unable to find the words for the grief, isolation, and despair that we feel, our hearts cry out to God…
People: And God pays attention to us.
Leader: As we gather in this place and time, remember: You are not alone. God knows where you are, and God listens to the cries of our hearts.

Sermon takeaway: Fathers are foundational archetypes in scripture and that means something! God calls Himself “Father,” Abraham is the “father of faith” and the structure of all prayer begins with the idea of father. Visible to the eye are God-fearing children and a wife showered with sacrificial love. But below are roots; rugged, dirty, strong, and complex root formations that trust in its source and freely gives that goodness to everyone above. (v.1-2)

What a blessing! So grateful to all the helping hands behind this ministry, and that we are able to continue serving the kiddos in our community.

Sermon takeaway: We must fully appreciate the power of fellowship in growing and developing the body of Christ. Fellowship is one leg of the 4-legged stool for church growth: leader discipleship, fellowship, theological reflection, and engagement. This theological communal life had the effect of total social restructure within the body of believers. This life was not secured with possessions to protect oneself from the world, but by trusting in God and valuing relationship with one another. (v.42-47)

Sermon takeaway: On display after Peter’s sermon is the classic model of reasonable response expected from a believer when presented with the gospel. The word of God is like a key to the heart of the saved. They are pricked (convicted), repent (180-degree turn) and then saved (salvation). We are called to live out this reasonable response continually. A submitted life that bears witness to the lost sinner both the way to and way of salvation! (v.37-41)
