In case you haven’t heard, change is in the air at First UMC Mansfield! After 4 years leading First, Pastor Ed will be retiring and he and Donna will be relocating to Altoona PA! (Which is where our grandkids also live!) We have had great experiences here in Mansfield, not just within the church but in the broader community also! The “Crossroads of the Northern Tier” is a great place to live!
But wait, there’s more! Effective July 1, First Mansfield, Roseville and Mainesburg churches will officially become a three church charge under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Candice Chase! I am excited to be handing the reins over to her, and I believe great ministries will be taking place under her leadership. Candice is person truly called and gifted to Christian ministry. Below you will find her bio and a photo. May God bless these churches and the community with love and Grace!
Introducing Pastor Candice Chase
I was born in 1972 in Brooklyn NY and moved with the family to Philadelphia, PA in 1975. I am the youngest of 5 children, my Father Compton Chase currently living with me and Mother Myrtle Chase (deceased). I graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia in 1991. After graduation I worked in the banking industry for about 8 years with a focus in Loan Servicing. I then moved to Somers Point, NJ for about 2 years. In 2001 I moved to Hackettstown, NJ to attend Centenary College (now Centenary University). I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. After graduation I worked for Centenary as Director of First Year Programs for 2 years before moving back to Philadelphia to help with family issues.
I moved up to Tioga County in 2013 briefly living in Wellsboro, then moving to Blossburg in 2014 where I currently reside. Over the past 10 years I have been employed at CVS as Pharmacy Technician and Shift Manager, Tioga/Bradford County Housing Authority as a Housing Specialist and Tioga County Department of Human Services as a Case Manager for Children and Youth.
All of my life I have had a strong call to ministry in a number of different ways. I have taught Sunday school, youth group, gone on many mission projects everywhere from the Appalachia Service project (where I travelled all over, West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee rebuilding houses) to South Africa where I taught at a Bible Camp(twice) to New Orleans (3 trips) to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. For approximately the past 7 years I have been the District Lay Leader where I have provided Pulpit Supply at many of the local churches in the area of the old Williamsport District. Currently I am serving as District Superintendent Hire at Blossburg FUMC and Covington UMC as Pastor.
I have just completed Local Licensed Pastor School in April and will be pursuing my Masters in Divinity Degree this coming Fall. The Lord has been calling me to his service for many years and I have finally slowed down and listened to that call. I feel that he is working through me to share his word and his message with all of those who are looking to find him. I am blessed that he has chosen me for this role and am excited to see where he leads me next.
