Barbara Lee Walton, 78 of Edwards, Mississippi passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her home in Edwards, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. Burial will follow in Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Elder Mickey Myers will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
Barbara Lee Walton was born on November 25, 1947, in Magee, Mississippi, to Roy Lee Bynum and Willie Rayford Bynum. She was a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and a love that ran wide and steady through her whole life.
She was the devoted wife of Ken Walton and a loving mother to Connie, Vicki, and Karen, and a caring stepmother to Michelle and Wade. Family was everything to Barbara. She gave freely of herself, loved without hesitation, and always put others before herself. To know her was to know a gentle heart that showed up in steady, simple, everyday love.
To her children, she was “Mama.” To her siblings, she was “Bob.” To her grandchildren, she was “Mamaw Barbie”—a name she wore proudly and joyfully. Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured every visit, phone call, and update about their lives. She was always asking about her grandbabies—their activities, their accomplishments, and even the small everyday things that mattered so much to her. Being Mamaw Barbie brought her tremendous happiness, and the bond she shared with each of them was something she held close to her heart.
Barbara loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life and carried her through both joyful seasons and deep sorrow. She experienced heartbreaking loss throughout her life, including her beloved parents, a dear sister, and two precious daughters, Vicki and Karen. Even through that kind of pain, her faith never let go. She leaned on God in every season and found strength, comfort, and hope that carried her forward.
Barbara often spoke of how much she missed Vicki and Karen, carrying them with her every day in her heart. She also made sure her daughter Connie never doubted how deeply she was loved. Her love for her family was constant, steady, and unconditional.
Barbara also had a big love for animals. Over the years, many dogs and cats found their way into her heart and home. Her most recent companion, Jake—a once-stray brown English Labrador—brought her so much joy and was faithfully by her side.
She spent many years in Bogue Chitto and Edwards, Mississippi, but always held a special place in her heart for Magee, where she grew up, and for her church family at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church. The friendships, faith, and memories from there stayed with her all her life.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a gentle, kindhearted soul whose faith never wavered and whose love never ran out. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the many lives she touched simply by being herself.
While we will miss her more than words can say, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with loved ones gone before her, and surrounded by God’s eternal love.
Her life was a testimony to enduring faith, unconditional love, and a heart that never stopped caring for the people she held dear.
Survivors include her husband, Ken Walton; daughter, Connie K. Weeks (Trent); son-in-law, Mickey Myers; step-daughter, Michelle Lang (Joe); step-son, Wade Walton (Kimberly); grandchildren, Kellie Thomas (Justin), Matthew Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Blaine Myers, Braden Myers, Casey Bailey, Brooke MacDonald (Jack), Thomas Lang (Nicole), Jade Lang, David Lang, Brandon Lang, Gunnar Walton; great-grandchildren, Aubree Thomas, Evan Thomas, Watson MacDonald, and Rebecca Mitchell; sisters, Ellen McWilliams (James), Pam Holmes (George), and Lisa Rankin (Carnell); brother, Danny Bynum.
She was preceded in death by her children, Vicki King and Karen Myers; parents, Roy Lee Bynum and Willie Rayford Bynum; sister, Jean Abernathy.
