Today, we learned about the good kings of Judah, like Asa, Joash, Hezekiah, and Josiah, who led the people back to worshiping the one true God. Each king took brave steps to remove false gods and restore true worship in the temple. They showed us the importance of obeying God’s commands and trusting Him, especially in times of trouble. Just as these kings called their people to worship, we are also invited to worship God with all our hearts. Our good King, Jesus, leads us away from sin and helps us follow Him every day.

Today, at church, we learned that God had done so much for His people. He saved them from slavery in Egypt, gave them a good land, fought their enemies, and made His presence known through the temple. But Israel continued to turn away from God and worship worthless idols. God provided prophets to warn His
people to repent of their sin.

Today, at church, we learned that God’s people were stuck in a pattern of sin. Even when they tried to follow God, they would eventually turn away again. In these verses, Hosea begged the people to once again turn back to God. He called the people to ask God for forgiveness. He wanted God to receive praise for how He is faithful to forgive people who repent of sin and trust in Him.

This week at church, we learned about Jonah. Jonah showed us that repentance is a choice. Jonah chose to go the opposite direction from where God told him to go. However, when he called the Ninevites to repentance, the Ninevites chose to repent and turn to God. They turned from the sin that separated them from God.
