Our dear sister Shirley Raikes suffered a stroke yesterday while inpatient at a local rehab recovering from a recent major surgery. Rushed to a local hospital, she had the clot in her brain removed in surgery and is showing encouraging signs early post surgically. Her family asked that I share with you these expressions of their appreciation of your prayers and support:

“Please pass along to everyone our thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers!! It was a very difficult and scary day but we felt the love. I truly believe God was watching over her and kept her safe and kept our family hopeful and calm. She is one strong woman and we are so lucky to have so many people love and care for her!”

Please continue praying for Shirley and her family.

Good morning Summit Hills Family!

Since Thursday, Wynn and I have enjoyed and been blessed by our midwinter retreat time, through yesterday with other ministry couples at Shepherding and now sharing a “just us” phase until tomorrow. We are grateful for this time.

This morning as you gather to worship, you will be blessed by the ministry of Chris Johnson (Lloyd and JoAnn’s son) in the pulpit, with Bro. Darrin welcoming you and leading you in the reading of scripture, as Bro. Terry and Patrick lead the praise and worship time of music and song. Wynn and I are praying for you all and looking forward to being with you again in the next week.

God bless you all!

Wynn and I are about to head out of town for our annual mid-winter spiritual retreat, including attending gathering with other Kentucky pastors and their spouses in Lexington for the Shepherding the Shepherds event. I explained this morning in another post on our Summit Hills Baptist Church page that last night’s livestream began with technical Facebook issues (that you saw if you warched live) that fairly quickly resolved). However, it was deleted this morning due to other issues and I have been unable to retrieve it (any advice from technies appreciated!). So before we leave, I want to repeat a couple of important announcements that were made.

First, our parking lot is now clear and other post storm issues are resolving daily. Services will be held as normal Sunday. I am so glad that my dear friend and brother, Chris Johnson, son of our members Lloyd Johnson and JoAnn Bricken Johnson, will fill the pulpit in my absence. Chris is one of the most faithful and spiritually gifted men I have ever known. Throughout his life, he has dealt with daunting health issues, including a kidney transplant about a decade ago, and has displayed courage and utter trust in our Lord every step of the way. Over time Chris has been used of the Lord to preach and teach from pulpits and through video ministries on social media. He and his wife, Shelly, are exemplary in their marriage and as parents and grandparents. Please attend Sunday . . . I assure you Chris’ ministry will bless you!

God bless y’all! Peace, everyone!

If you joined me for our livestream last night, you know that I explained some technical issues at the beginnning. This morning, the recording of the livestream has been deleted. I have been unable to retrieve it. Any advice from a techie friend would be appreciated.

Broadcasting as many livestreams as we have over the last nearly 6 years we have been fortunate that such issues have been rare. Please accept our apology for this one.
