On April 1st, 2026, we were blessed by a very special visit from a dear friend of many years, the Reverend Dr. Michael Passmore. It had been some time since we last saw each other, and it was a true joy to catch up, reminisce, and share in the memories of ministry we’ve experienced together.

Even more exciting, Michael shared that he has recently moved to the Port Mansfield area here in South Texas, so now he’s officially a neighbor! He’s been enjoying this new season with plenty of fishing and cooking at his new place.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reconnect and look forward to many more visits and moments of fellowship ahead.

Today, we take a moment to recognize and give thanks for two very special friends of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, Bill & Gwin Genn.
Time and time again, Bill and Gwin faithfully make the journey from First Christian Church of Lockhart to bring donations lovingly collected by their congregation. Their commitment is not occasional, it is consistent, sacrificial, and deeply rooted in faith.
Through their efforts, clothing, food items, rice, beans, varied undergarments, hygiene kit items, socks, wipes, and many other essentials are placed directly into the hands of those who need them most, families in our local community, individuals facing hardship, and those passing through in search of reunification with their loved ones here in the United States.
These are not just supplies, they are expressions of dignity, care, and compassion.
Their service is a beautiful reminder that ministry is not limited by distance. It is carried by willing hearts.
Bill and Gwin, thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ. Your faithfulness is seen, your generosity is felt, and your impact is eternal.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

Today at Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, we were reminded once again that ministry begins right here at home.

These moments reflect members of our local community, neighbors who are working hard, caring for their families, and simply in need of a helping hand. Some came seeking clothing for work, others for their children preparing for school.

Because of the generosity of our Disciples of Christ churches, and through the faithful support of the Mike’s Kids annual roundup, we are able to open our clothes garage and meet these needs with dignity and care.

Every shirt, every pair of shoes, every jacket represents more than just an item, it represents love in action.

We give thanks to all who continue to support this mission. Together, we are making a difference not only across borders, but right here in our own community.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40

What a blessing it was to share this moment during the 40th Anniversary of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries alongside two very dear friends, Larry & Brenda Gilliam.

For many years, Larry and Brenda have been faithful and steadfast supporters of this ministry. Together, they are a true power couple, carrying a singular heart of kindness and compassion for the poor, the needy, the disadvantaged, and the marginalized.

Their generosity and commitment have played a vital role in helping us keep our almacén stocked, especially with essential items like rice and beans. Through this ongoing support, they are directly helping sustain the work of Casa Hogar Bethel orphanage, in Matamoros, providing nourishment and care for its 35 children and dedicated staff.

This is the kind of quiet, faithful service that truly changes lives.

We are forever grateful to the Lord for Larry and Brenda, two beautiful souls whose love for others reflects the heart of Christ.

May God’s richest blessings be upon you both!

Today we celebrate a truly special milestone, the 88th birthday of Rev. Feliberto Pereira.

For decades, he has faithfully served as the founder of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries and as the pastor of Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer in Los Fresnos, TX. His life has been a living testimony of service, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Through every season, he has remained committed to preaching the Gospel, caring for those in need, and building a ministry that continues to impact lives across our communities and beyond. What many see publicly is only a glimpse of the quiet prayers, long days, and deep love he has poured into others throughout the years.

At 88 years old, he continues to stand strong, a shepherd, a servant, and an example to us all.

We were also deeply blessed to share part of this special day with two dear and longtime friends of Rev. Pereira and Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, Dr. John Callison and Dr. Herb Linskey. Their presence was a meaningful reminder of the enduring relationships and shared mission that have helped shape this ministry over the years.

We thank God for his life, for his legacy, and for the many lives that have been touched through his obedience.

Happy Birthday, Dad. We love you deeply and thank God for you every day.

We grieve the December 6 passing of our dear friend Mike Robinson after a long illness. We were richly blessed by Mike’s faithful service to this ministry through his time, his talents, his generosity, and most of all, his heart.

Mike and his beloved wife, Julie, would spend weeks at a time serving alongside us. Mike’s construction skills contributed greatly to several buildings at our Bayview campus, and he also carried those gifts across the border, helping build casitas for families in need of shelter in Mexico.

We will deeply miss our brother in Christ, yet we rest in the sure hope that God has prepared a home for him in heaven. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Julie and to all who loved Mike and were touched by his life.

📦🤝 From generosity to action.

Following the truck’s arrival, our team and volunteers began sorting and organizing donations to ensure they are distributed with care, dignity, and purpose.

These goods will be shared with families and individuals in our local community, as well as our neighbors along the Mexico border who face ongoing hardship and uncertainty.

Every step — unloading, sorting, and preparing, is an act of love made possible by faithful partners across Texas.

Thank you for helping us turn generosity into tangible hope.
