How unthinkable it is that a mere mortal and sinful man should be ashamed of the very Son of God! How ridiculous that men whose words are full of error and even perverseness should be ashamed of the perfect, holy words that fell from the lips of Christ! And yet, such is often the case. "Hope" implies something future that is guaranteed but that is not yet seen. Men do not hope for that which they already see or possess. (verse 24) It requires the faith and patience as we wait for our hope to be fulfilled. We must run with patient endurance the race set before us before we can claim the prize at the end.
