The Messiah Choir sang a couple of songs at Bethany College Chapel Break on Tuesday – "We Walk in Love," with BC student Scarlett Randolph as our soloist, and Dolly's,"Light of a Clear Blue Morning," with BC student Gabbie Arnold as soloist. These "chapel breaks" on Tuesday at noon (for about 30 minutes) are developing into a cherished time for students, faculty, and community members. Come check it out!

The Red Barn Studio Museum is excited to announce a new poetry event on Saturday, September 27, 2025, featuring a day of workshops and a public poetry reading with three Kansas-based poets: Caleb Braun, Wanderer (Cydnée A. Reese), and Traci Brimhall, the current Poet Laureate of Kansas.

"It is here in worship with you on Sunday mornings, here as we sing together, confess together, pray together, listen together, think together, eat and drink together, here where I get a hug or a handshake or a high five from every single one of you, it's here where I get a glimpse of heaven, right here on earth. It's here where, together with God, we imagine the kin-dom of God and realize it is at hand. It's here where we forgive ourselves and one another. It's here where we love and are loved. It's here where each of us has enough to eat and drink, and we share our resources so that all can come to the table of life.

And I'm not being hyperbolic. Almost every Sunday, some moment catches me off guard. The veil is lifted and I see Jesus enfleshed in our community. I see God here.

But we can't stay here in the Sanctuary forever. And so today, we turn our attention to the sending. The sending is integral to our worship, because we are called to take what we have here in this place out into the world. Our sending song today really sums it all up:

As we've gathered to practice this song of love,
May we go with the sweet harmonies of grace.
So with one heart, and one love,
We'll sing out this song to the world–
The spirit of life for the world."

We dit it! We wrapped up our 4 week series on worship with a bang, introducing a brand new liturgical setting. We got a great start on that, and we'll get better at it over the coming weeks (along with some edits and refinements here and there). ⛪️🎶🙏🙌

It's going to be a great Sunday at Messiah Church!

The choir will sing Dolly Parton's "Light of a Clear Blue Morning," with Bethany College student Gabbie Arnold singing the solo part, AND we're going to debut a brand new liturgical setting called, "Spirit of Life for the World."
