The United Methodist Church granted women full clergy rights in in 1956. But it wasn't the beginning of women's ministry in the church. Women had already been preaching, teaching, organizing, leading revivals, founding schools and hospitals, and serving as missionaries. South Gate has been blessed with the leadership of three women clergy, Rev. Carol Rottmer-Brewer, Rev. Stephanie Ahlschwede, and our current pastor, Rev. Amy Slater.
