Called.

The people who give their lives to The Salvation Army – officers, soldiers, employees, volunteers – aren't doing a job. They answered something.

Some heard it as kids and never let it go. Some heard it later, after a long road that didn't go where they thought it would. Some heard it through a corps officer who showed up when nobody else did. Some heard it in a recovery program, on the other side of the worst chapter of their lives.

They didn't all hear it the same way. They all said yes.

To love. To serve. To follow. That's the calling. And there are nearly 1.6 million people across the country – officers, employees, and volunteers – living it out right now.

To every mother who has poured her life into faithfully raising her children: we see you. We see the values you've modeled, the faith you've lived out loud, and the heart of God you've shown us through the way you love. Your influence doesn't stop with the people you've directly touched.

It ripples outward to people who watched you from a distance, learned from you without you knowing, and absorbed the Spirit-filled life you lived even when you thought no one was paying attention.

One day, you'll have the joy of knowing that your family and the generations after them have embraced your values and made them their own. You've left a mark on more lives than you realize. Today, we honor you for the legacy you're building, one faithful day at a time.
