Worship Service for Sunday, April 12, is cancelled to allow members to attend Franklin Presbyterian Church’s Homecoming.
Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church will have it's homecoming this Sunday April 12th, 2026 at 10:30 am. Come a little early and take a walk around this quaint little church, see where mini balls and cannon balls hit its walls during the Battle of Franklin. Take a stroll through the old cemetery to see where the pioneers of this once thriving town were laid to rest, names including Caldwell, Dale, Drennan, Noel, Russell, Sample, and Sanders. Come and just enjoy a little time in the country.
Franklin Presbyterian Church was founded in 1841 by hearty settlers in the then frontier of Mississippi. It now is a reminder of these brave souls who lived here and worshiped here. The town of Franklin was incorporated in 1836 when President Andrew Jackson sold a block of land in Holmes County Mississippi to a group of settlers from Virginia, Alabama, and South Carolina. The town was named Franklin in honor of Benjamin Franklin. The church was organized in 1841 and is the second oldest Presbyterian church in the state of Mississippi! The first building was made entirely of logs; the second and still remaining building was built on land donated by John Caldwell.
