Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained. Going back to “in the beginning”, Christ was the Creator of all things. Even now He upholds all things by the word of His power. In the garden, following the sin of Adam and Eve, God, in Gen 3 promises a redeemer, the seed of the woman. He gives them a picture of this in the slaying of an animal, shedding its blood, and clothing them in it’s skin, representing the blood that Christ would shed and the believer being clothed in His righteousness. The Old Testament is all about Jesus, with pictures and prophecies of the coming Messiah- the Annointed One. Finally realized in the New Testament, Christ, born of a virgin was conceived and born without sin. As He grew, scripture says He was tempted in every way that we are yet was without sin- never a sinful word, thought, or action. At the end of His 3 yr ministry, He laid His perfect life down as an atoning sacrifice, pouring out His life, shedding His blood to atone for all the sins of those who would trust in Him. Raised from the grave on the third day, His resurrection demonstrates two foundational truths:1) His victory, sovereignty, power over sin, death, and the grave; 2) the acceptability of His sacrifice. Therefore He can say, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. He alone is the bridge that spans the gulf that our sin has established between ourselves and God. He calls all people everywhere to lay down their pride, to repent and believe in Him by faith, and he will save to the uttermost. Trust in Him by faith, and you will live. "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3
