Good Morning, Mifflin County! The Salvation Army is very busy preparing for our Christmas Distribution this coming Friday. As such, there is limited access to the Food Pantry. If you have a food emergency, please contact local churches.

The week between Christmas and New Year the office will have very limited hours of operation as the officers - Majors Fred & Janet - will be taking vacation. If there is an emergency need, you can reach us via Facebook Messenger as we will check that daily.

The Salvation Army officers (pastors) and congregation - did you know we are a church? - wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Salvation Army of Lewistown, Pennsylvania will begin accepting Christmas Applications starting October 1. The link for the form is below. Click link, fill out application, hit submit and the document will come to Major Janet Clarke.

The document will not be ready until October 1.

The Salvation Army of Lewistown will be holding their Annual Harvest Auction on September 27, 2025. Food service to start at 5:00 pm and the auction to begin at 6:00 pm. Come and join the fun!!

The Salvation Army of Lewistown offices will be closed Thursday (7/17) and Friday (7/18). The Borough is replacing sewer lines on South Dorcas. Please reach out by Facebook messenger should you have an emergency need. Thank you.

With summer here, the pastors will be taking a 2 week vacation. Starting June 24-July 7, you will only be able to reach The Salvation Army by messenger on Facebook. The messages will be checked daily. Sorry for the inconvenience. We look forward to serving you when the office reopens on July 8. Thank you.

The Salvation Army of Lewistown's business office will be closed on June 19, 2025 to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday. The business office will reopen on Monday June 23 at 9 am.

Don't know what Juneteenth is all about? (I didn't until several years ago!)

June 19, 1865 is the day black people in Texas found out they were no longer slaves. This was more than 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln. The black people of Texas were the last people to be freed from slavery. June 19 is a day of celebration now known as Juneteenth. 🙂
