We're used to reciting, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." But, Jewish scholars translate the Hebrew text differently. The modern Jewish Bible (the TANAKH) begins, "When God began to create heaven and earth . . ." Hear the difference? Is it possible that God is still creating? Let's take a look tomorrow. Have you ever played Monopoly? The board is set up into neighborhoods with different levels of affluence. There's a neighborhood in which you're likely to feel most comfortable. What happens when you're in a different neighborhood? Translating to our spiritual life, we need to communicate differently. This Sunday, we'll see that happening in a Bible story (Acts 17:16-34). Let's apply it to our changing world!

They executed a waiter by stoning him. Not just any waiter, but someone serving food to widows who were on the margins. This Sunday, we'll read Acts 7:54-8:1a. Look it up if you want to read ahead.
